PHILADELPHIA, PA--(PRNewswire) The Link to Learn Foundation announced today that students in 15 states
can now have Guest Speakers, from Astronauts to Zoologists, join their classrooms via the web to help bring
their curriculum to life.
The Foundation has been expanding its service on a state-by-state basis since its founding in 2010. Each state
added to The Link to Learn Foundation’s service footprint enables students in the state’s public and private K-12
learning institutions to gain unlimited access to the organization’s Guest Speakers & learning curriculum.
Teachers throughout the state can access foundation’s library of Learning Units based on subject, grade level or
curriculum topic.
“Bringing an Astronaut, such as Joe Tanner, into my science classroom opens a dialog with students that is
unique, engaging and motivating”, said Maria Martinez – 12th grade teacher. “Statistics can be a tough sell for
high school juniors, but having a baseball statistician share his professional use of math makes my job easier”,
said Steve Nelson – 11th grade teacher.
The Link to Learn Foundation recognizes the unique learning objectives of each state. Before entering a new
state, the organization modifies its Learning Units to support and match a state’s K-12 learning goals and
objectives. Depending on the state, The Link to Learn Foundation will work with in-state educators to review the
organization’s Learning Units for modifications and augment the units to meet state standards. In the past, the
foundation has found that eighty percent of its Learning Units align with state grade specific learning objectives.
Where gaps were found, the Link to Learn Foundation created new Learning Units in order to present educators
with a wide breath of sessions on various subject matters.
About The Link to Learn Foundation:
The organization was founded on the guiding principle that “Students learn best when they are excited about the
curriculum”. To help excite students about their curriculum, The Link to Learn Foundation brings Guest Speakers
into classrooms, via the web, to share their professional experience surrounding a particular curriculum. Each
Learning Unit consists of three to four sessions to give students a full and diverse understanding of focused
topics. Teachers are provided with preparatory materials in advance of each session, as well as with follow-up
materials at the conclusion of each Learning Unit. Guest Speakers make themselves available for two weeks
following each session for student Q&A via blogs and classroom links.
