RE Capital's Visionary Leadership under Newman Leech

1. TO SHRM-LI FAMILY AND FRIENDS: The world has experienced difficult economic times since the global recession began in the autumn of 2008. Today, companies are relying on their respective Human Resource Departments to build and reinforce a strong corporate structure. One that is able to endure and prosper despite volatile external circumstances. Market conditions change at a moment’s notice; business environments may fluctuate, for better or worse, on a day-to-day basis. This has been the story for many companies right here on Long Island. In order to thrive as a company that maintains the potential of constant growth with a sturdy corporate structure, it is vital to maximize efficiency in the areas of Human Resources such as recruitment, employee and labor relations and especially benefits. SHRM-LI bears this in mind and continues to grow in areas that allow companies to discover the talent that is necessary for them to become more efficient. We do so through the following areas: a) Member Resume Posting – all members can post their resume for companies to review and discover. I have spoken with a few members that have received interviews through this process. b) Business Directory – companies are discovering each day how having a single or multiple listing within the SHRM-LI Business Directory can generate interest in others retaining their services. Everything from Affirmative Action to Benefits, to Event Planning to Recruitment. SHRM-LI has it covered for you. c) Annual Conference – each year members of the SHRM-LI Community spend their day at what has been described as the most beneficial HR Conference in the metropolitan area. It has served as a great resource tool for members and companies seeking to educate individuals regarding the services they provide. As I begin my final months as President of SHRM-LI, I am committed to keep raising the level of service we provide. The foundation that was poured by past administrations has allowed us to achieve wonderful accomplishments. To maintain this trend, we continue to add on key individuals to help us advance the profession and serve the professional. To this end, I am proud to announce that Tricia Folliero, VP @ Sanna, Mattson & Macleod, has been appointed as Marketing Director. Tricia has been a long time supported of SHRM-LI in many capacities and we look forward to her enhancing the manner in which we communicate and serve our members. As we enter my favorite time of year, I reflect back on what has been a wonderful four (4) years. I truly look forward to a future where nothing is out of our reach!
