TELE-satellite: we are expanding our coverage to include terrestrial TV (see
ISSN 1435-7003 page 99). That’s actually a contradiction: with a satellite antenna you can
receive thousands of channels but with a terrestrial antenna it’s only a few
channels. Depending on the location it can be less than ten channels or as
many as 100 channels in areas that are better provided for.

But terrestrial reception is interesting nevertheless. Here channels are
transmitted that are favored most by the general public. One consequence
to the enormous number of channels transmitted via satellite is that it’s
impossible to keep track of everything. Before you can enjoy watching these
satellite channels you must ﬁrst go through the large number of channels
and perform an extensive clean-up job. This chore is not necessary with
terrestrial reception because of the limited number of available channels.
For many viewers that’s exactly what they want: some higher authority
has already decided what channels are there to be watched. Deciding what
channels to delete from a satellite receiver channel list is not necessary: with
terrestrial tv there are so few channels that nothing needs to be sorted.

It’s an interesting concept: “less is more”. But we here at TELE-satellite don’t
necessarily pay homage to this concept. We prefer to leave the choice of what
box to buy to our readers. And because of that we will continue to report on
