2. Resurrec<on Essen<al to the Gospel
1 Corinthians 15
• 1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached
to you, which you received and on which you have taken your
stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the
word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
• 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance:
that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that
he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to
the Scriptures,
• 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me
was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them
yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11 Whether,
then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what
you believed.
3. Christ’s Resurrec<on Guarantees Ours
1 Corinthians 15:20‐24
• 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the
firsWruits of those who have fallen asleep.
• 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrec<on of
the dead comes also through a man.
• 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
• 23 But each in his own turn: Christ, the firsWruits; then, when
he comes, those who belong to him.
• 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom
to God the Father aYer he has destroyed all dominion,
authority and power.
4. Victorious Resurrec<on
1 Corinthians 15:56‐58
• 56 The s<ng of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
• 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through
our Lord Jesus Christ.
• 58 Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing
move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the
Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not
in vain.
5. The Biblical Basis for Missions
Three Key Elements
• The Great Commission‐ Maahew 28:18‐20.
• The Great Commandments‐ Maahew 22:33‐40.
• The Great Compassion‐ Mark 6:34, Luke 19:10.
• His commission, commandments and compassion should
lead us to seek and save those who were lost.
6. The Great Commission
• 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority
in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
• 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all na<ons,
bap<zing them in the name of the Father and of
the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
• 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you. And surely I am with you always,
to the very end of the age."
7. The Great Commandments
• 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with
this ques<on:
• 36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the
Law?"
• 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your
heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
• 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
• 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as
yourself.
• 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two
commandments."
8. The Great Compassion
• Mark 6:34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd,
he had compassion on them, because they were like
sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them
many things.
• Luke 19:10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save
what was lost.“
• Go to them and preach, teach leaders, and plant
churches/ministries among them.
9. The Superior Way
• 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these
three remain: FAITH, HOPE and
LOVE. But the greatest of these is
LOVE.
• John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the
way and the truth and the life. No
one comes to the Father except
through ME.
