The Asian koel is a
member of the
cuckoo order of
birds, the
Cuculiformes. It is
found in the Indian
Subcontinent,
China, and
Southeast Asia

Female
The Asian koel is one
of the few bird
species, that I have
encountered, where
the female is more
colourful than the
male. These koels are
a very good example
of a brood parasite-
they lay their eggs in
the nests of crows and
other hosts, who end
up raising their young.
