Gender bias, also known as sexism, is a full of attitudes, laws, taboos, preferences, and behaviors
that differentiates and discriminates against either sex. These may be a position of which male
dominance and female subjugation in the modern society. It could also be a form of sexual
stereotypes between men and women, these are commonly experienced in employment versus
other positions. A final place that discrimination is faced is the academic environment, the female
to male ratios are not in sync in certain programs and courses because of this and it is pressuring
men and women to not go into certain fields and do what they love and please. Most
advertisements on Television, magazines, newspapers, online ad's, use a charged sexually image
with a female as the star. Women are to be a pleasure for men, and nothing else. Many people have
different opinions on genders and sexuality and that is okay, but sometimes you just need to keep
them to yourselves. I was walking through Walmart with a friend the other night, and we turned the
corner to go down an aisle and they were walking towards us. As we approached them, they moved
out of the way, so we could get through. There were 5 male specimens, around the ages of 20–24,
two white, one Hispanic, and two black guys. Most of them were very tall, both white guys were
thin and lean, the Hispanic guy was short and lean, and the two black guys were tall and thick. All
five of the guys dress in upper class clothes such as Nike, Adidas, Under armor. As I observed
these guys, they were in a group of friends. They were walking according to race, two white guys
in the front, and then the Hispanic guy was in the middle, and following him was the two black
guys. They were very respectful when we turned the corner and let us go through, as we passed them

When we use a utilitarian approach, it is believed that "productivity is optimized when jobs are

still feel, entitled to protect their high paying jobs and lucrative bonuses because of the power,

Conclusion
Wall Street by nature is also opposite of the theory of distributive justice. Bankers, investment
brokers, and investment firms goal is to maximize their shareholder's, company's or individual's
wealth. The idea of sharing resources or applying the most "fair" decision is almost unheard of. That
is one reason why we have seen these Occupy Protests around the world. It is not fair that wealth is
not being distributed.

Personal Reaction The reason why I chose this article was because as a female I found it
interesting to see how women are treated differently due to prejudice in the workplace, especially
women who are in positions of power. In addition, as a woman who would like to work in the
corporate business world, I found it intriguing that a feature as simple as hair colour, can have a
major impact on how people perceive others. As a Muslim woman who wears a Hijab, I have

patriarchal society. If we do not comply to these expectations we are seen as deviant and disrupting
societal rules.
As such expectations are placed upon us we are already robbed of the opportunity of taking upon

You know that feeling. When you can feel the blood gathering in your cheeks, your clammy fists
clench, and your limbs tingle, wanting to spring out and smash something. Then you yell, whine,

We live in a society today that says we do not discriminate, that we learned from the past and are
above that now. It is heavily taught in schools at a young age that discrimination was a thing of
the past, that no one will be treated differently because of who they are. Some preach this idea so
fiercely, yet there are untold numbers of circumstances in which people of all kinds are set apart
and alienated from others, and the people that preach against it refuse to see it even when it is right
under their nose. We are currently living in the delusion that discrimination does not exist, when in
fact it happens every day and in many ways.

Gillard, Prime Minister of Australia at the time, made what is widely regarded as The Misogyny
Speech in response to the Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott. She stated, "The Leader of the
Opposition says that people who hold sexist views and who are misogynists are not appropriate
for high office. Well I hope the Leader of the Opposition has got a piece of paper and he is writing
out his resignation. Because if he wants to know what misogyny looks like in Australia, he doesn 't
need a motion, he needs a mirror," (Gillard). Our society is full of hypocrites. We say that
stereotyping is wrong, but then turn around and do it every day, whether we realize it or not.
A Time magazine article from 2014 describes Amy Chua's beliefs that being Asian makes a person
superior when it comes to succeeding in America. This is paired along with the idea that the
condescension has settled upon those of Hispanic origin, as well as African–Americans and even
whites. While that latter statement is completely true, it can be taken even further by saying that
within all of these races and origins, women are still paid less than their male counterparts across the
board (USDL 4).

The Bias Ideas Of Discrimination In The Workplace
The meaning of discrimination is the bias opinions towards something that people may not be
familiar with. I was surrounded by the ideas of discrimination since I was little, though I have
never noticed. I was born in China, where people can barely find foreigners, at least lot less than
the american; also when the time I was born gender equality was common, therefore most of the
discriminations was based on region, wealth and degrees of education. I remembered always
hearing the adults say that people are rude from such places, or people are all thieves from such
area. Those "theories" start to become a common knowledge, no one will doubt it if people mention
them. Of course I did not know that those are discrimination, but just because I heard so many of
them, those ideas turn into a subconscious of mine. In my memory, I have never been
discriminated when I was a kid, probably was made fun by people because the disadvantage of
my height, but I didn't really pay attention to it. When I look back into my childhood, the reason
discrimination did not brother me was not because I lived in a fair society, was because I was
born in a upper family within a big city. Most of the neighbours, classmates and friends of my
parents that I encounter with were all having a similar background. Everything was looking ordinary
for me at that time, however, that peace start to fall apart after I know I will come to the states.
