 In East Germany, 80% children of three
  years age group were in childcare in 1990
 In West Germany, only 5% of that group
  were in child care
 The Early Childhood Education (ECE) and care in
  Germany support the traditional roles
 88% children of 3-6 years had access to childcare
 In 2009, planned to increase from 250 to 750
 In 2002, childcare facilities were 3.1 million
 Daycare is progressing in Germany
 According to German law, daycare workers don’t
  need college degree.
   Follow monthly routine in their planning for their
    physical, socio-emotional and academic
    development
   Childcare centers are public and governed by
    state laws
   Caregivers requires a formal license
   Complete criminal background check is required
   Home owners are eligible only
   Site inspection is to make sure that the
    environment is child safe
   Taxes to be paid for earned money
   The home or facility offering childcare must
    meet minimum requirements
   Accessibility and safety issues need be
    addressed
   Parent receive government assistance of
    about $188 monthly if not put at daycare
In Germany, childcare is made available to
  parents by local governments. Carriers are:
 Communities-
 “Free carriers”: Churches, non-profit
  organizations or parents’ initiatives
 Nannies or Child minders
 Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC)
   Canada has also both private and subsidized
  daycares. Facilities vary from one province to
  other
In Germany, State ensures following aids or
  supports for raising children:
 Maternity Allowance
 Child Allowance
 Supplementary income-tested child benefit
 Parenting Allowance
  Canada also provides similar kinds of
  supports but with variations among provinces
   Over age 3 -6 years allow to go kinder
    garden
   Child care hours are morning7am-
    evening5pm
   Allowed 5% children in day care
   Only under3% of the age of 3 years have day
    care and 88% of the age of 3-6 years have
    daycare
   Early childhood educators have to be
    qualified for 3 years and get diploma
