Lung cancer death rates have declined by 51% in men and 26% in women since the early 1990s according to a new report from the National Cancer Institute. This drop is attributed to reductions in smoking and advances in early detection and treatment options. While lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death, the report finds that newer targeted therapies and immunotherapies have led to improved survival for many patients with advanced disease.
