2. Mount Abu is a popular hill station in the
Aravalli Range in Sirohi district of Rajasthan
state in western India, near the border with
Gujarat. The mountain forms a distinct rocky
plateau 22 km long by 9 km wide. The highest
peak on the mountain is Guru Shikhar at 1,722
m above sea level. It is referred to as 'an oasis
in the desert' as its heights are home to rivers,
lakes, waterfalls and evergreen forests.

since centuries.It is said that a serpent named
ARBUDA saved Shiva’s bull.Nandi in Mount Abu
and hence.It was ealier named as Mount
Arbuda.Mount Abu is a home of many sages and

lived there performing Yagnas for greater benefit

4. Mount Abu is located in the state of Rajsthan or at an
altitude of 1219m above the sea level. It is located
near the border of Gujrat and the mountain spreads
over 22km lenght and 9km width. Gurushikhar is the
highest peak in Mount Abu at about 1722m hight.
Mount Abu is known for its good and cool weather
because of green and dense forests, lakes and
waterfalls.

connectivity and daily flights with other parts of the
country and is just 221 KM from Mount Abu, from

7. Gurushkhar is the highest peak of the
Aravalli Range and lies about 15 kilometres
from Mount Abu. The height of the peak is
1722 meters from sea level an It rises to an
elevation of 1,722 metres (5,650 ft).[1] It is
15 km from Mount Abu and a road from
there leads almost to the top of the
mountain.[2] It is named Guru-Shikhar or 'the
peak of the guru' after Dattatreya, an
incarnation of Vishnu, and a cave at the
summit contains a temple dedicated to him,
plus one dedicated his mother, Anasuya,

8. Nakki Lake in Mount Abu truly
defines romance in Rajasthan.
Named as Love Lake of Mount
Abu, it is also a largest manmade
lake at the height of 11,000
meters in India. It is also a sacred
lake for the Garacia tribe of
Rajasthan and at the time of their
festival in Shukla paksha which
falls in April month it is the place
of worship and remembrance of
their ancestors. People consecrate
their nails in the lake on this
festival. It is the reason for naming
of this lake as 'Nakki'.

world. Located just 2.5 km from Mount Abu,
Rajasthan, Dilwara temples justifies the beauty
of Mount Abu also as the only hill station of

10. Mount Abu wildlife sanctuary is around 7km long
and just 300m wide has the abundance of flora and
fauna ,housing 112 plant families with 449 grnera
and 820 species,it is loaded with flower
magnificance,the rare species found here are
sambhar,common langoor, wild boar,bear,jungle
cat,indian fox etc.
