- Introduce self and topic. The issue of childhood overweight has been all over the news. Everyone continues to ask the question WHY? The answers are complicated and no one issue is to blame. However, TV viewing can be held up as ONE of the causes. Today we are going to discuss: how much TV we are watching the effect that TV is having on our brains, our families and our bodies some solutions that you can use in your own life ways you can help WIC families make better choices about their TV viewing Before we get started let’s clarify what we mean by screen time…screen time includes watching TV, videos, DVDs, playing video games, using the computer….recreational screen time…not just TV. To set the stage let’s take a look at a family and how the media effects their lives. Is this typical? You be the judge.
