Severe Weather

   By: Charlie
Introduction
By living in Florida, it is not uncommon to
experience a little bit of rain. However, at
times the weather can be severe. You might
experience a tornado, hurricane, tsunami, or a
tropical storm. Have no fear, if you read this
book you will learn about how to stay safe in
weather more severe than just rain.
Tornado
Do you know how to stay safe from a
tornado? If you have a basement
underground, go there. If you don’t have a
basement, you can shut all the doors in your
hallway and go there. But… if you have an
attic, DON’T go there! Or, don’t drive away.
A tornado is a cone of wind like this:
Hurricane
Hurricanes are the most powerful storm there is.
So, if the hurricane came West, go East! If it is
going North, go South! But… if it covers the whole
State of Florida, go to Georgia, Alabama, Iowa, or
any other state other than Florida!
A hurricane has an enormous amount of
wind!
Tsunami
Tsunamis are very powerful. A Tsunami is
a very big wave that can destroy a
district, city, state, or even country! Big, huh?
To stay safe from a Tsunami, don’t go into your
house because your house will flood! Just, get
out of the city, state, country, or even the
continent!
    A Tsunami looks like this:
Lightning
Lightning is very dangerous. It is a big
spark from the sky that can cause fires! If
lightning hits a tree it could set it on fire, or
fall down. To stay safe from lightning, you
should rush into your house!
Tropical Storm
Hold on to your hat, or grab your best friend!
Because, tropical storms can bring more wind and
rain than a thunderstorm. Tropical storms can
sometimes even flood places. They can become
HURRICANES!
A tropical storm is a gigantic center of rain!
Conclusion
By following these safety tips, you can
survive some of the most severe weather
ever!
