2. Introduction
Sylvia Earle was a
great marine
biologist if you
would like to
learn more read
on about the sea
explorer.
3. Early Life
Sylvia Earle was born in
1935 August 30th.
Her family brought her up
on a small farm near
Camden,U.S.A since her
family were poor. When she
was 13 they grew wealthy
and rich so they moved to
Clearwater, Florida.
4. First Job
Sylvia's first job was a marine
biologist (a scientist that
works on creatures in the sea)
with NASA and the army.
Sylvia loved all creatures since
she was little, so it made
understanding easier fun and
interesting for her at work.
5. Journey Under The Sea
She was doing great at her
marine biology so NASA
offered her a submarine
called the deep sea rover,
and diving gear to go
under water for as long as
she could and come back
and report the news of the
under world.
6. The Submarine
Ride
The ride was only 20
minutes to the deeps of
the Indian ocean. She
enjoyed the ride more
than the others as the
amazing coral distracted
her eyes from anything
else. She said “I love
seeing the real natural
sea creatures instead of
in the lab”.

9. The journey back
After 2 weeks NASA thought she had been
eaten alive or killed. They searched and sent a
message but she did not reply.
However there was a signal a few hours later,
there she was. She appeared out of the water
they boarded her a to the Rover.
She explained how wonderful it was and they
were shocked, and asked about the sharks,
“They were more scared of me than me
scared of them” she said.
10. The Family
Of course her family
were proud of
Sylvia, since she had
achieved her dream.
All the family were
so happy they
celebrated at their
house, even the
NASA scientists
were there!
11. Timeline
1935 Born August 30th
1964 Joined 6 weeks on science under Indian
ocean
1968 Went 100 feet in the bahamas under water
1970 Went under Indian ocean 2 weeks
1979 Walks on sea in jim suit
2o12 Lives in America teaching others about the
sea
12. This is a explanation of how a
submarine works.
There is a electric motor that runs
on batteries which pushes the
submarine there is a snorkel and
air so that they can breathe inside,
they have a radio antenna to
contact with other people on the
land.
There is an escape hatch and
access hatch so the people can go
in and out.
13. The great underwater sea explorer Sylvia
Earle is still alive teaching other’s not to
be afraid of the beautiful sea creatures
that lie in the ocean and new species to
come.
