Merit-Based Scholarships
St. John’s University uses the admission application to automatically
determine merit scholarship eligibility for first-year, full-time
undergraduate students who enroll in a bachelor’s-level degree program
for the Fall 2024 term. Merit awards ranged from $10,000–$32,000 for the
2023–23 academic year. Scholarships are awarded based on information
and supporting documents at the time of admission. No additional
application is required.
Catholic High School Scholarship
Created in response to a recommendation from the Advisory Board of
the University’s Institute for Catholic Schools, this scholarship provides an
annual award of $3,000, for a maximum award of up to $12,000, over four
years of undergraduate study. It is automatically awarded to incoming
first-year students who will graduate from a Catholic high school.
College Advantage Award
Students who successfully complete the College Advantage Program, and
are admitted and enroll at St. John’s University the semester after high
school graduation, receive a $3,000 award per year for up to four years of
full-time, continuous undergraduate study at St. John’s University.
Service Scholarships
St. John’s University awards $2,000 per year for up to four years (for
new first-year students) of continuous, full-time undergraduate
enrollment to the children of police officers, firefighters, or military
members within the United States. An eligible student must be a
dependent child of a member (i.e., full-time active service, retired, or
killed in the line of duty) and a current high school senior planning to
enroll at St. John’s in the Fall 2024 term.
2. APPLICATION-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS
Students are invited to apply for the following additional scholarships and do not need to wait for
an admission decision, although only students with a completed admission application on file will
be considered.
Ozanam Scholars Program
The Ozanam Scholars Program connects small student groups with dedicated faculty
to contribute to solving real-world problems in local, national, and international
communities. Ozanam Scholars receive up to a $10,000 scholarship renewable
annually for the four-year program. Applicants should demonstrate leadership within
their community and a strong academic profile.
Catholic Student Scholarship
The Catholic Student Scholarship offers awards to college-bound Catholic students
graduating from both Catholic and non-Catholic secondary institutions who enroll
at St. John’s University the semester following high school. This scholarship is up
to $1,000, renewable annually for four years of undergraduate study at St. John’s.
Applicants must be baptized Roman Catholics and current high school seniors.
Catholic Scholars Program
Catholic Scholars commit themselves to faith-based leadership training,
service, and prayer, and formation of a deeper understanding of what
it means to be a leader inspired by the Catholic tradition. Recipients
assume important leadership roles within the community of faith and
service at St. John’s University. Catholic Scholars receive a grant of up
to $5,000 per year, which is awarded for four years of study. Applicants
must demonstrate a commitment to living the Catholic tradition
through leadership and excellence.
