Week 1 Important Aspects of Project Management
Collaboration Café
Reflect on projects that you have been involved in during your career or in everyday life. We
have all been involved in projects such as buying a house, renting an apartment,
remodeling, and so on. You may have participated in projects at work, such as workload
assessment, initiating an electronic health record or other informatics-related activities.
What do you feel is the most important aspect of project management to ensure a successful
project and why?

Standard 10 of the Nursing Informatics Scope and Standards of Practice is collaboration. In
consideration of this, address each of the bullet points that follow as you consider
interprofessional collaboration as it relates to project planning:
•Briefly describe the key stakeholders with whom you are and will be collaborating to plan
your MSN project.?
•Discuss two communication and/or collaboration strategies you will use with
interprofessional partners during the planning phase.?
•Select one example from your practicum experiences that involved or will involve
interprofessional collaboration. Explain the collaboration that took place (if it has already
occurred), its purpose, and its impact on the project and on your learning. ?

Week 5 RACI - Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed
Collaboration Café
As you reflect on highly functional teams that you have been a part of or led, who was
ultimately responsible for the work? Who was accountable for the work? Who were the
stakeholders or subject matter experts? Who did the team need to keep informed as the
work progressed? How will these role responsibilities be reflected in your project? Utilize
the chart provided to identify the “who-what-when-how” for your project. Submit your
chart and solicit feedback from your classmates. As you review your classmates' charts, you
may discover omissions from your own plan and can act upon those.

Week 6 Budget
Collaboration Café
What are your operational impacts on the budget for your project? Some questions you may
want to explore include: Is there additional training needed for your project to be
implemented? Will supplemental employees be needed to back fill those employees in
training? Will employees incur overtime for your project to be implemented? Will there be
additional IT (Informational Technology) personnel that are hired temporarily to complete
the build for implementation?

Week 7 Executive Summary
Collaboration Café
The purpose of an executive summary, in the context of project management, is to provide a
concise update of your project. Many executives prefer brief, bulleted information on key
points. Executive summaries, in this context, are used as a quick reference for the leader to
provide other internal updates within an organization.
Share with the group examples and tips you have found helpful from your mentor this week
in beginning to prepare your project executive summary.

Week 6 Gantt Chart and Risk Registry
Assignment
Purpose
The process of project management has five phases, 1) design/initiation which you just
completed, 2) finalizing your plan before implementation which you will do now, 3)
implementation, 4) monitor and control and finally, 5) evaluation and lessons learned as
well as knowledge transfer. This assignment will help you develop project timelines using a
Gantt chart and determine who is ultimately responsible for task completion as well as risks
to the project for which you will identify and then monitor.
Assignment Overview
In this?assignment, you will define and document?the project’s tasks?and project’s
deliverables?and their relationships to each. Consider the components that would be
included in a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) exercise as you construct your Gantt Chart
and Risk Registry.
You will?develop?project?timelines?using a?Gantt chart?for key deliverables which may be
created?in excel.??The Gantt chart, named after Henry Gantt, clearly shows the start and
completion dates for all major?project activities and subtasks.?The Gantt chart is
straightforward, easy to understand,?and simple to change. It?provides?a snapshot of the
project, and one can?immediately?identify?task durations and distinguish tasks dependent
upon other tasks to be completed before they are started. Understanding?all?dependencies
is critical?for the project manager who is responsible for time, budgets, and resource
allocation. Microsoft Excel includes several templates that you may choose from as well as
instructions for their use.
Another key tool you will develop for this assignment is called?the?Risk Registry. Risk
management will be accomplished?using?a?Risk Registry?template.?Using?the?Risk
Registry?is a way to?identify, document and manage?all?the risks associated with a project.
The chart details?provide?a straightforward way?to scan for?level of?risk, status, potential
responses,?who?is responsible for?the risk in addition to the project manager?or other
details needed to manage the risk. This is?a great way?to keep everyone informed when this
document is presented at the weekly team meetings and in communication with all
stakeholders.?
Assignment Instructions
•Abide by the Chamberlain College of Nursing Academic Integrity Policy.
•Create the assignment using Microsoft Word using template provided for the Risk Registry.
•Create your Gantt chart in Excel (other software may be used). The Gantt chart should be

NR640B Complete Course Latest 2023.docx

  • 1. NR640B Complete Course Latest 2023 NR640B Discussion Week 1 Important Aspects of Project Management Collaboration CafĂ© Reflect on projects that you have been involved in during your career or in everyday life. We have all been involved in projects such as buying a house, renting an apartment, remodeling, and so on. You may have participated in projects at work, such as workload assessment, initiating an electronic health record or other informatics-related activities. What do you feel is the most important aspect of project management to ensure a successful project and why? NR640B Discussion Week 2 Informatics Nurse Specialist Professional Role Development Collaboration CafĂ© The role of the Informatics Nurse Specialist (INS) is ever changing. What roles have you observed the INS play at your places of employment? As you develop in your role as an INS and project manager, what competencies do you believe that you need to strengthen to support your success in these roles? NR640B Discussion Week 3 Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Collaboration CafĂ© Determining organizational priorities and needs for projects will be important to project success factors. How does equity and SDOH fit in with your project? Can you share a time when you were part of a team that had balanced voices to impact SDOH and a time when the voices were not representative? NR640B Discussion Week 4 Interprofessional Collaboration in Project Planning Collaboration CafĂ© Standard 10 of the Nursing Informatics Scope and Standards of Practice is collaboration. In consideration of this, address each of the bullet points that follow as you consider interprofessional collaboration as it relates to project planning:
  • 2. •Briefly describe the key stakeholders with whom you are and will be collaborating to plan your MSN project.? •Discuss two communication and/or collaboration strategies you will use with interprofessional partners during the planning phase.? •Select one example from your practicum experiences that involved or will involve interprofessional collaboration. Explain the collaboration that took place (if it has already occurred), its purpose, and its impact on the project and on your learning. ? NR640B Discussion Week 5 RACI - Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed Collaboration CafĂ© As you reflect on highly functional teams that you have been a part of or led, who was ultimately responsible for the work? Who was accountable for the work? Who were the stakeholders or subject matter experts? Who did the team need to keep informed as the work progressed? How will these role responsibilities be reflected in your project? Utilize the chart provided to identify the “who-what-when-how” for your project. Submit your chart and solicit feedback from your classmates. As you review your classmates' charts, you may discover omissions from your own plan and can act upon those. NR640B Discussion Week 6 Budget Collaboration CafĂ© What are your operational impacts on the budget for your project? Some questions you may want to explore include: Is there additional training needed for your project to be implemented? Will supplemental employees be needed to back fill those employees in training? Will employees incur overtime for your project to be implemented? Will there be additional IT (Informational Technology) personnel that are hired temporarily to complete the build for implementation? NR640B Discussion Week 7 Executive Summary Collaboration CafĂ© The purpose of an executive summary, in the context of project management, is to provide a concise update of your project. Many executives prefer brief, bulleted information on key points. Executive summaries, in this context, are used as a quick reference for the leader to provide other internal updates within an organization. Share with the group examples and tips you have found helpful from your mentor this week in beginning to prepare your project executive summary. NR640B Discussion Week 8 Reflection Collaboration CafĂ© Reflect on the past 7 weeks and share your insights on the practice-ready skills that you
  • 3. have developed thus far. Address each of the following prompts with your reflective post: •How have the skills you developed in creating the planning phase project documents helped to prepare you for practice in informatics? •How did these skills help you to meet each of the course outcomes? •Be sure to cite examples as they relate to practice readiness and course outcome attainment, not merely a listing of assignments. CO: 1 Synthesize knowledge, apply person-centered principles and concepts from nursing- informatics and project management to develop project plans and teams. (PO 1) CO: 2 Demonstrate effective leadership skills and advanced roles that promote successful planning, management and evaluation of projects and teams. (POs 3, 5) CO: 3 Incorporate the standards of practice for nursing informatics that exemplify professional values and scholarship to support professional growth, leadership skills and advance personal development. (POs 4, 5) CO: 4 Contribute to the body of nursing informatics knowledge through participation in and application of systematic utilization of evidence-based knowledge in creation of effective project plans and teams. (PO 4) Please note that all posts for Week 8 are due by the close of class on Saturday 11:59 pm MT. Within the MSN Specialties Track, you will engage and dialog with classmates in aCollaboration CafĂ© discussion assignment. The Collaboration CafĂ© is an interactive assignment that encourages meaningful application of course concepts, discussion of nurse- practice issues, and student leadership to prompt continued conversations in order to facilitate achievement of course learning outcomes. In order for students to lead and facilitate discussion within the collaboration cafĂ©, course instructors will take a less active role in daily posting, but will remain present to monitor the discussion for compliance and to offer clarification. • 5. NR640B Week 2 Scope and Charter Assignment Purpose This assignment is designed to help you lay the groundwork for your project plan with the help of mentors and professors. The mentor becomes a team member for the project that you will manage. You will identify the stakeholders, project priority, how the measurable goals will be met for a successful project, and who will receive the report of the results of the project. The scope document describes the parameters of the project, including what can and cannot be accomplished and the measurable objectives and outcome measures. The project charter describes and defines the project. When the sponsor signs off on the project, it becomes the document that authorizes the project. Assignment Overview You will develop the Project Scope and Charter for your project. Based on the information from the mentor and professor, finalize and complete the project charter and scope documents or statements. The project scope must be approved by your practicum organization. Your mentor should help you obtain approval. Project approval must be received prior to submitting the scope and charter documents. Templates are provided for both documents on the assignment page. Assignment Instructions •Abide by the Chamberlain College of Nursing Academic Integrity Policy. •Create the assignment using Microsoft Word using templates provided for both project charter and scope documents. •The Project Charter template is to be used; in addition to the problem statement, overarching goal and objectives, this document includes budget information, project approach, key stakeholders with roles, and their comments. •The Scope document template is to be used and should include the problem statement, overarching goal, measurable objectives, project justification, implementation strategy, human and technical resources, measures of success, assumptions, and constraints. A project sponsor’s signature/approval is required. •Rules of grammar, spelling, word usage, punctuation, sentence, and paragraph structure are followed and consistent with formal, scholarly writing as noted in the APA Manual (current edition). •First person should not be used within this assignment. Revision Process If you do not receive at least a proficient rating in any content category, you can re-submit your assignment with revision to that content category to improve the points earned within that specific section. Please note the following guidelines: •After receiving your assignment grade, you have one opportunity to resubmit. •In order to resubmit, your initial submission must have been a complete assignment.
