My name is Steven Walker and I am an advanced welder with supervision and fabricating experience aligned to an
excellent work history.
My work ethic and skill set is second to none, alone withmy reliabilityin my standard of work, effort,time-keeping
and belief in giving the quality of workmanship the client should expect and receive.
I currently work ad-hoc through my own limited company, mainly offshore but also mainland uk and abroad. I am
happy to work on the books as P.A.Y.E. if required.
Most of my contracts come from an Aberdeenbased Engineeringcompany whofabricate pipe spoolsandsteelwork
for many offshore installations, both oil platforms and FPSO ships. The company also do work at the Sullom Voe oil
terminal, Shetland and many landbase sites around the country. Clients include SHELL, BP, CNR, SSE, TRANSOCEAN,
and TOTAL amongstothers.The companyemploysme as 3rd
party welder/fabricator to the main contractor on site.
I have 40 years experience of welding and fabricating pipe and steelworkusing TIG.MIG.MMA and FLUXCORE. All
thickness and diameter of material. Carbon, Stainless, Chrome-moly and Dissimilar.
Overthe years I have beencodedonall these and some exoticsatone time or another.Sittingandpassingdozensof
weld tests.
I have good experience and knowledge of working with risk assessments, ptw , and good safety practises and
guidelines on PPE and the Environment.
I amexperiencedatworkingatheight,confinedspaces,readingdrawingsandworkingaspartof ateamoronmyown.
I have an up to date medical cert and one year old passport.
(2013-2016) Ad-hoc welder, contracted to 3rd
party clients through Enterprise Engineering Ltd and Scottish Rig
Repairersof Aberdeen.Codedwiththemformicro bore up to heavywall pipe using both TIG and MMA for root run
and fill and cap. Also coded on steelwork. Carbon, stainless, Duplex.
(2014) Attained a PCN level 2 welding inspection Certificate from the British Institute of NDT.
(2013) Opito approved Bosiet offshore survival with HUET ,EBS AND M.I.S.T.
(1992-2013) Doosan heavy industries, formerly Mitsui Babcocks.
Worked on sites all over the uk, including the spool base in Renfrew,welding high pressure spools, headers, tubes,
branchesandvessels. All materialswithTIG.MMA ANDFLUXCORE. Alsousedsub-arcmachines. Workedondozensof
shutdowns along with remedial work on many of the country’s oil refineries, power stations, both gas/coal/and
nuclear. Also worked on commercial sites, like Tate and Lyle sugars, Guys hospital, Proctor and Gamble, Glaxo
Pharmaceutical,Kodax,Smurfitpaper mill amongothers.Duringthistime Iwasmade upto supervisorlookingaftera
multi skilledworkforce atTate and Lyle andoverseeingamaintenance contract at the tunnel refineries/Amylumsite
at Greenwich, London.
(2003-2013) Ten yearsbased at the Bp/Ineosoil refineryatGrangemouthScotland. Aspart of the site core welding
team I worked on every part of the plant, I was involved in all outages/shutdowns and maintenance work and new
builds. During my time with Doosan I had dozens of codings that are held by the company and included carbon,
stainless,chrome-molyandInconel.Micro bore upwards.Dairy pipe thicknessupwards.Argon/nitrogenpurgingand
paste.

2. (1987-1992)
Pipeseal Systems Ltd, Glasgow.
Welder / fabricator and work shop supervisor,
Duties included overseeing the welding and fabrication of pipe repair clamps, spools and assemblies.
QA and weld inspection of item’s,training of apprentices, using many machines like rollers, guillotines, press, drills,
punch and spot welder.
Problem solving and making sure orders were complete and dispatched on time.
(1975-1987) 12 years at Govan Shipbuilders Glasgow. Including my 4 year apprenticeship.
Trainedinall aspectsof shipyardweldingandfabrication. Tanks,vessels,shellpanels,heavyliftinglugsupto 40 ton.
UsingMMA andMIG welding3mmthickuptopropellershaftsof severalinchthick.Studwelderandsub-arcmachine.
Bare wire and fluxed core. Ceramic and glass tiles.
Skills and attainments:
I have passed dozens of weld tests.
Trained in electric and air powered tools, ie angle grinders and chipping guns, mag drill,
Oxy-propane burning gear.
Tickets for fork truck, cherry picker, scissor hoist, slinging and overhead gantry crane.
