Photoshoot In order to complete each section of my magazine (front page/contents/double page spread), I will have to carry out a number of shoots. For my front page I am going to try capture a single image of my feature artist. I will try using close ups with no back drop, close ups with a natural back drop and decide which works best for my main image. For my contents page I want to try and gather as many images as I can to promote the magazine. Different pictures which will reflect their article. Loaded magazine, uses a section based on where the readers send in funny holiday pictures, I want to replicate this but using funny photos of what people have done with the snow, seeing as it has been very snowy. Here is an example of an image I am talking about. For the double page spread I would like to base the interview with the band on an up and coming album. I have this idea that the album should be called “Fight against the machines”. Because I am using a pacman font for my masthead, it gives a comical impression, and fight against the machine could be represented by humorous images of my band members, fighting everyday electrical objects and cars etc.
Front cover My original idea for my front cover was to have a single artist standing with a guitar (like the cover to the right), but this seems too simplistic and boring for my liking. My new mind-blowing idea is to have all my band members with their heads on the side up the right hand side of the magazine like this…
Contents page Having looked at a variety of contents pages, I have noticed 2 types of contents pages. The first is very much picture strong with little writing and the second being very literally based. This means that the magazine has chosen to base the attraction on a visual image or it uses a lot of writing. (Examples to the right). For my magazine I want my contents page to be full of images, little writing to make it easy for the reader to understand and follow. I think this will make the page more attractive and readable. I like how the pictures are arranged here, I might try to incorporate this look into my magazine, but I think the headlines need to be bolder.
Double page spread Like with the contents page, the double page spread can be either visually or literally based. (Shown to the right). Again I would like to keep with the visual theme, using a couple of images of my band. These pictures could be from their music video and be shown as screen shots.
