The BigHertsBigIdeas for Business project promotes sustainable staff travel and commuting
to large employers in St Albans, Watford and Hemel Hempstead. This part of SW Herts was
judged in the LSTF bid to have strong prospects of employment and economic growth, but is
at risk of a return to serious road congestion and pollution unless employees start to
change ingrained single-occupancy car travel habits.
A short online survey was sent to network members in
October/November 2014. Responses were received
from 17 separate companies accounting for
approximately 15,000 employees in Hertfordshire.
Clearly there has been some impact on companies’
plans and activities regarding staff commuting and
travel in SW Hertfordshire. Engaged members include:
