Adding School Academic Year Dates into SIMS
As part of the Sims .net year ends process it is advised that when creating your new academic year
that you use the following dates. As part of this process you can add in the school term dates along
with school holidays and also staff training days. We have included the dates for the new year and
how they should be inputted into SIMS.
The following steps should help you to complete the academic year setup. Access Focus | School
|Pastoral Structure | Next Academic Year Structure
You will be presented with a
screen about the school
working week this should be
not edited as Mon – Fri is
already selected. Proceed to
next screen.
1) Add in the following
dates into your
Calendar.
Add in all your school terms
with their start and end dates.
2) Add in the following
Half Term Holidays
Define your half term holidays
these work on the Mon – Fri
dates as per in this example.

3) Add in the Staff
Training Days on this
screen.
Add in here all of your staff
training days, if you need to
add further ones these can be
added through the school diary
at a later date.
Please note that the training
days provided are only given
as examples you will be
required to enter your own
schools days in this view.
4) Add in the Bank
Holidays for the new
year.
Add in the bank holidays over
the next year, we have
included these for your
reference.
Bank Holidays include:
Good Friday
03/04/2015
Easter Monday
06/04/2015
May Day 04/05/2014

5) Update / Create your
new academic year
Once all of your information
has been input into the
academic calendar wizard click
the update / create button for
this to be set.
Please refer to your Year Ends handbook for further information on completing the rest of the
Year End procedures.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU COMPLETE ALL OF YOUR YEAR
END PROCEDURES BEFORE GOING BACK TO SCHOOL IN
SEPTEMBER 2014 OTHERWISE THIS WILL IMPACT ON YOUR
CLASSES AND PUPIL DATA WITH FURTHER WORK THAT MAY
BECOME CHARGEABLE BY CONNECT-UP IN ORDER TO
ENSURE DATA IS CORRECT FOR THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR.
