Originating centuries ago, traditional Korean medicine is an ancient practice of
healing that not just cures an illness, but treats the entire body holistically.
Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM), while based on Traditional Chinese Medicine
(TCM), has developed its own unique diagnostic and treatment features.
In the period of the three kingdoms, traditional Korean medicine was influenced
by other traditional medicines such as ancient Chinese medicine.

Traditionally there have been various types of oriental medicine:
Jeonyak (water based made by boiling down medicinal herbs)
Guyak (granule based)
Sanyak (powder based)
Many Oriental Medicine treatments, excluding cosmetic treatments,
are covered under the Korean National Heath Insurance System.

The treatment of a herniated disc involves various acupuncture

- Motion style acupuncture therapy

The injection of medicinal herb extracts into acupuncture points,
combining the effects of acupuncture with herbal medicine.

edema. It is good for people who easily become swollen. But, it makes
the body cold, so the tea is not recommended for pregnant women and
people with coldness in the lower part of the belly and cold hands and
feet.

The tea is particularly good for people with high blood pressure,
arteriosclerosis, diabetes and obesity as it is effective in lowering the
cholesterol accumulated in the body. Persimmon leaf has a high dose
of Vitamin C, helping one improve immunity against diseases and
promote blood circulation

9. - Saenggang cha(생강차/Ginger Tea)
Ginger is helpful for weight loss as it eliminates bodily waste by promoting
digestion and enhancing energy consumption by increasing
metabolism. Ginger tea is good for people with cold bodies or those
who easily get stomachache or have indigestion after eating cold food.
However, it is not recommended for people with too much heat in their
bodies.
- Urong cha (Oolong Tea)
Oolong tea is effective in weight loss as it eliminates the cholesterol in
neutral fats. If you like to eat greasy food, it is recommended to drink
oolong tea as often as possible. In addition, the tea is good for the skin
and prevents aging as the tea controls active oxygen, which stimulates
aging.

10. - Jinpi cha (Tangerine Peel Tea)
The tea is particularly good for those who were skinny before marriage, but
have experienced a sudden increase in weight after pregnancy or
childbirth. It is good for treating cold or fatigue as the tangerine rinds
have four times more vitamin C than the mandarin fruit. The tea has no
side effects and helps digestion, so it is recommended for anyone.

11. Famous Korea Doctors
Hŏ Chun 17th-century author of the Dongui Bogam (lit.
"Mirror of Eastern Medicine"), an encyclopedia of
Oriental Medicine.
Yi Chema 19th century thinker who created “Four
Constitutions” medical theory (Big yang, small yang,
big yin, and little yin)
In the 1970s, a Korean physician came up with the idea
of “hand acupuncture,” the notion that all acupuncture
points have corresponding points in the hand.
