2. Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH)
Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH) a co-branded project and joint initiative of DC Office
Lahore & Youth Council for Anti Narcotics (YOCFAN) was established on 23rd February, 2013
by signing MOU between DCO Lahore & Chairman YOCFAN. The Main theme of this project is
to strengthen its entire awareness programs:
 counseling and training on Drug Demand Reduction
 educate and trained people against drugs,
 Treatment & counseling for drug addicts and their families,
 awareness programs in educational institutions,
 internship program for students against drugs etc…

3. Back Ground of Lahore
• Lahore is a provincial capital with rich cultural and social hub of Punjab & The
second largest city – district of Pakistan. According to Population Census of
2017 about 11 million people are living in the city of Lahore.
Karachi is the largest city of Pakistan with having 16 Million of population,
where the use of drugs/narcotics and drug business is at its peak level.

4. The Situation of Drug Addiction in Pakistan
According to the National Survey Report by United Nations Office on Drugs & Crime
UNODC & Ministry of Narcotics Control Division MNC published in 2013 - Pakistan.
•6.7 Million People are Drug addicts.
•Drug-addicted people, age is between 15 to 65 years.
•Most addicted are between 25 to 39 years.
•There are only 1990 beds available for drug treatment in Pakistan.

5. The Situation of Drug Addiction in Lahore
According to the Annual Report 2019 published by Drug Advisory Training Hub
(DATH) & YOCFAN Lahore.
• 120 Points in Lahore, where homeless drug addicts are living on roads, parks,
footpaths, etc.
• 30 Hotspot Points in Lahore in which females are also using drugs with their
families.
• Most of the areas are very alarming for addiction, dead bodies of unknown drug
addicts are being found due to an overdose of drugs.

6. The Situation of Drug Addiction in Lahore
• Estimated figures there are 7000 – 8000 drug addicts peoples are on Roads in
Lahore
• The monthly Death Ratio of Homeless Addicts in Lahore is near about 45 – 50
persons.
• Drug Addiction is rapidly increasing in Educational Institutions of Punjab,
especially Lahore, where Students of Schools, Colleges, and Universities are using
Drugs.

13. Treatment & Rehabilitation Facilities in Lahore
Public & Private Hospitals
There are only 6 Government Hospitals in Lahore those have Psychiatry & Addiction
Wards but only 2 hospitals are providing services for the treatment of drug addiction.
Punjab Institute of Mental Health - 100 beds & Mayo Hospital - 20 beds.
The duration of treatment provided by these institutes are only for 15 – 20 days but
according to international standards of drug addicts treatment program are minimum
for 90 days.
