“And who is better in religion than one who submits
himself to Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى ) while being a doer of good
and follows the religion of Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) , inclining
toward truth? And Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى ) took Ibrahim (
ِ
عليه
سالم ) as an intimate friend.”
(An-Nissa (The Women): 125)
5. • Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) was repeatedly tested by Allah
( سبحانه
وتعالى ) at different times and he passed every
test with flying colors. He accepted all commands
and sacrificed for Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى )
• And so as a result of passing all these tests, Allah
( سبحانه
وتعالى ) rewards him by making him a leader
of the people as stated in the ayah.
Why did Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى ) choose him
as a friend?

when Ibrahim ( ِ

with commands and he fulfilled them. [ Allah (
سبحانه
وتعالى ) ] said, "Indeed, I will make you a
leader for the people." ”
[Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow): 124]
7. Story of Bibi Hajrah ( عليہ
سالم )
• Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) was blessed with a son, Ismail
( ِ
عليه
سالم ). Ismail ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) as just a baby when
Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى ) commanded Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
)سالم to take his wife and son to the desert of
Arabia (which is Makkah now), and leave them
there.
• He left a jug of water with them. There wasn’t
any other person around.
8. Story of Bibi Hajrah ( ِ
عليه
سالم )
• Bibi Hajrah ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) asked her husband where
he was going and why he was leaving them
behind in that place. He did not answer as he
was told to not answer.
• Then Bibi Hajrah ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) asked Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
)سالم, “Did Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى ) command you to
do this?” He replied, “Yes.” She did not question
him any more and said if Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى ) has
commanded He will take care of us.
9. Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) made a du’a as he left Makkah.
“Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an
uncultivated valley near Your sacred House, our Lord,
that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the
people incline toward them and provide for them from the
fruits that they might be grateful.”
(Surah Ibrahim :37)
10. • She stayed there with Ismail ( ِ
عليه
سالم ). Jug of water
finished. The baby started crying until finally she set
out looking for water. She saw the mountains of Safaa
and Marwa and went there to see if she could find
water.
• She did this 7 times. This is known as Sae’ee. Every
time she reached one mountain she would climb up to
see Ismail ( ِ
عليه
سالم ). She saw nothing, no water and no
human.
12. • Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى ) is
indeed Merciful. When Bibi
Hajrah ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) returned
to Ismail ( ِ
عليه
سالم ), she
found a spring of water
gushing beneath the feet of
her son. Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى )
had ordered it to gush. The
words that came out of her
mouth were, “Zam Zam.”
(Stop, Stop).
• The spring came to be
known as the well of Zam
Zam.
• A tribe passing by asked to
share and settled there.
13. Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) comes back. Kaaba is
built.
•Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى ) had now ordered him to build His
house and directed them to the site where the
construction would be done.
• Both Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم )
and Ismail ( ِ
عليه
سالم )
began building the Kaaba.

Last Day." [ Allah ( سبحانه

disbelieves - I will grant him enjoyment for a little; then I
will force him to the punishment of the Fire, and
wretched is the destination.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah (The Cow) :126)
16. Kaaba
• Kaaba is also known as Haram
• Another two names are Bait-ul-Ateeq and Bait-
ul-Haram
17. Importance of Making Du’a
• We learn the importance of making du’a and
especially when we do a good deed, we have to
pray for its acceptance.
18. Maqam-e-Ibrahim
While they were constructing
the Kaaba, Ismail ( ِ
عليه
سالم ),
would bring the stones to his
father, who would place them
in the right place. They had
raised the walls of the Kaaba,
Ismail ( ِ
عليه
سالم ), got a stone
on which Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم ),
stood to raise the walls even
more. This stone still has his
footprints on it.
Praying two Rakah Nafil
Salah here after performing
Tawaaf around Kaaba has
great reward.
Maqam-e-Ibrahim –
means place where
Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) stood.
19. “And [mention] when We made the House a place of
return for the people and [a place of] security. And take,
[O believers], from the standing place of Abraham ( ِ
عليه
)سالم a place of prayer. And We charged Abraham ( ِ
عليه
)سالم and Ismael ( ِ
عليه
سالم ), [saying], "Purify My House
for those who perform Tawaf and those who are staying
[there] for worship and those who bow and prostrate [in
prayer].“
20. Hajr-e-Aswad – The Black Stone
• It is stone of Jannah
• The Hajr e Aswad was
sparkling because of its pure
whiteness, and it enlightened
the north, south, east and
west. People’s sin have
turned it black.
• Tawaaf begins from here.
• Rasul Allah ( صلي
ِ
هللا
ِ
عليه
وسل
م )
would kiss and cry over this
stone.
21. Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى ) commands call for
Hajj
• When the Kaaba is completed, Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم )
is ordered to call people for Hajj. But there is no
one there!
• Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) pleaded, "O Allah( سبحانه
وتعالى ),
how shall my voice reach all humankind?"
Almighty Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى ) told him that his
duty was only to make the call and that it was up
to Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى ) to make it heard by people.
Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) then climbed Mount `Arafat
and, as loud as he could, yelled, "O People,
verily, Allah has prescribed Hajj for you, so
perform it."
23. Hajj
• One of 5 pillars of Islam
• Reward of doing Hajj: "Whoever performs Hajj
and does not commit any obscenity or
transgression shall return [free from sins] as he
was on the day his mother gave birth to him."
(Al-Bukhari)
• Has to be carried out once in a lifetime if
conditions allow.
• Rituals of Hajj begin on 8th Dhul Hijjah
27. • There are no days greater in the sight of Allah
( سبحانه
وتعالی ) (including Ramadan) in which
righteous deeds are more beloved to Him than
these 10 days so during these days”
• Recite Tahleel: La ilaha ill Allah
• Recite Takbeer: Allahu Akbar
• Recite Tahmeed: Alhumdulillah
(Ahmad)
28. Sacrifice of Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) and
Ismail ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) (AS)
• Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) was blessed with both of his
sons in his old age. Ismail ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) was his elder
son.
• When Ismail ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) grew up to be a young man,
Ibrahim ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) saw a dream for three nights.
He finally realized that Allah ( سبحانه
وتعالى ) was
commanding him to sacrifice his son.
32. Learning
• We learn how obedient Ismail ( ِ
عليه
سالم ) was as a
son. No argument with his father, no
questioning, but just acceptance of what was
ordered to him.
