3. What is US Recruitment

▶ When we do same thing for US Clients and the candidates who are in US is called
as US Recruitment.
4. Geography of US
▶ The U.S. borders both the North Atlantic and North Pacific Oceans and is
bordered by Canada and Mexico. It is the third-largest country in the world by
area and has a varied topography.
▶ There are 50 states in USA and Washington DC is the Capital of USA.
▶ There are six time zones in USA but we only work with 4 time zones which are
as:-
EST (Eastern Standard Time)
CST (Central Standard Time)
MST (Mountain Standard Time)
PST (Pacific Standard Time)
6. Time Zones
▶ There are 4 time zones:-
EST (Eastern Standard Time) (9 AM)
CST (Central Standard Time) (8 AM)
MST (Mountain Standard Time) 7 (AM)
PST (Pacific Standard Time) (6AM)
If in India time is 7:30 PM then in EST it will be 9 AM.
7. Day Light Saving Time
▶ Daylight Saving Time (DST) in most of the United States starts on the 2nd Sunday
in March and ends on the 1st Sunday in November.
▶ Shift timing will be in India within this period is 6:30 PM to 3:30 AM and vice
versa.
8. Layers of Staffing.
▶ End Client : These are the companies who own the project and take the services of implementation
partner. For example- Google, BMW, Apple, Nike, Adidas
▶ Implementation partner: These are IT Companies who take the projects from end clients and develop it.
For example-wipro , hcl, tcs, ibm, cts, capgemini, L & T, ITC Infotech, infosys, genpect,accenture, birla soft
▶ Tier 1: vendor - These are staffing companies who work directly with either implemention partner or end
client or both. They are also known as preferred vendor or prime vendor.
▶ Tier 2: vendor- These are small staffing companies who do not work directly either with an
implementation partner or end client. They work directly with Tier1 vendor.
▶ Direct Client: when we work directly with end client and no implementation partner is involved. It is
known as direct client.
9. Visas
▶ F1: F1 visa is the student visa, the student can work for 20hrs in a week.
▶ CPT: (CURRICULAR PRACTICAL TRAINING) This visa is given to those students who completes one year of
his studies, its validity is 12months under this visa the candidate can work for 20hrs or more.
▶ OPT-EAD: (OPTIONAL PRACTICAL TRAINING) This visa is given to those students who completes his
studies. Under this visa the student can work 40hrs in a week. Its validity is 12 months. But the candidates
who belongs to STEM (science,technology,engineering & mathematics) background can extend for 24
months. There are three Categories Code for OPT. (C03A, C03B and C03C).
▶ H1B: H1B is a work visa. It is applied only by the employer. Its validity is 3years and it can be extended 3
more years. It is applied in the first week of April & it starts from 1st of October. H1B is also known as
I797. These are of 11 types I797 from (A to K).
10. Visas
▶ I797-A: It is basically change of status of candidate is already present in U.S. and is on a visa other than
H1B. He is entitled to I797-A.
▶ I797-B: If the candidate is present in his home country and he do not have a visa for U.S. then he is
entitled to I797-B.
▶ I797-C: When the I797-A of a candidate has been approved. He is given an approval receipt and this
approval receipt is I797-C.
▶ H4-EAD: H4-EAD is a dependent visa and is given to the spouse of H1B in a holders. Its validity is same as
H1-B. Category code for H4 EAD is C26.
▶ L-1:L-1 is an intracompany transfer visa. It is given to those worker who will enter to work for same
employer for whom they were working in their home country. Its validity is 3 to 5 years.
11. Visas
▶ L2-EAD: L2-EAD is a dependent visa. It is given to the spouse of L1 visa holders. Its validity is 2years.
▶ GC-EAD: When the green card of a candidate is in process he is given a visa called GC-EAD by the US
government. Its validity is 2years.
▶ GC: GC stands for Green Card. It is given for 10years is also known as permanent resident on the
completion of 10years the candidate can apply for US Citizenship. A GC can vote in sate elections but he
can not vote for federal elections. Category Code for GC-EAD is C09P and C09.
▶ TN: TN stands for TREATY NAFTA. NAFTA stands for (North American Free Trade Agreement). This visa is
given to neighboring countries of US that is Canada & Mexico. Its validity is 3years.
▶ TN1 Stands for Canadians.
▶ TN2 stands for Mexicans.
12. Visas
▶ E3: E3 is a special visa given to the citizen of Australia. Its validity is 2years.
▶ EAD: EAD stands for Employment Authorization Document. It enables a person to work legally in US. There are
four types of EAD

13. Visas
▶ C09 is not valid reentry. C09P is valid multiple entry.
▶ USCIS: The authority which is responsible for visas and citizenship in US is called USCIS (United States
Citizenship & immigration Security).
14. Tax Terms
▶ W2: In W2 we deal directly with the candidates we become his employer and we pay his taxes.
▶ C2C: In corp to corp we do not deal with candidate directly.We deal with third party vendor who is the
employer of the candidate. We are not liable to pay his taxes. His employer will pay his taxes.
▶ 1099: 1099 is applicable to only US Citizen and GC holders where they pay their own taxes.
▶ Note: For W2 position we will look only for US Citizen or GC holders (USC & GC).
▶ Ques: Can US Citizen or GC holder work on corp to corp?
▶ Ans: Yes , he can if he has a company registered in his name.
15. Types of Positions
▶ Contract to hire C2H:
In c2h initially the candidate is on a contract period and then he will get converted into fulltime.
We will hire only a US Citizen or a green card holder.
▶ Full Time:
It is permanent job for indefinite period of time.
Monthly salary is paid.

The San Francisco Bay Area, commonly known as the Bay
Area, is a metropolitan region surrounding the San
Francisco Bay estuaries in Northern California.
The Bay Area consists of nine counties (Alameda, Contra
Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa
Clara, Solano, and Sonoma) and 101 municipalities.
