5. Definition of- أمانة
Amanah is trusting someone with
something and expecting that person to carry
out what was entrusted to them. Generally
Amanah means fulfilling or upholding a
trust.
6. Definition of- أمانة
in Islamic Terminology
In Islamic terminology, Amanah is returning
things faithfully to its rightful owner or use
the thing in a manner authorized by him, so
that the security of that things is ensured.

11. Life is Amanah
Allah says in Sura Mulk-2
ْيِذَّال
َقَلَخ
َةوَٰيحَْالو َتْوَمْال
ْبَيِل
ْمُكُّيَا ْمَُكوُل
َ
سْحَا
ُن
ۗ ا
ًَلمَع
ُرْوُفَغْال ُزْيِزَعْال َوَُهو
ۙ
˹He is the One˺ Who created death and life in order to
test which of you is best in deeds. And He is the
Almighty, All-Forgiving.
12. Subordinates are Amanah
Abdullah ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace
and blessings be upon him, said, “Every one of you is a
shepherd and is responsible for his flock. The leader of
people is a guardian and is responsible for his subjects. A
man is the guardian of his family and he is responsible for
them. A woman is the guardian of her husband’s home and
his children and she is responsible for them. The servant of a
man is a guardian of the property of his master and he is
responsible for it. No doubt, every one of you is a shepherd
and is responsible for his flock.”
13. Trust of Allah
Allah says in Sura Ahzab: 72
ا َان ۡضَرَع اَّنِا
َةَنَامَ ۡ
ۡل
َو ِض ۡرَ ۡ
َاۡلو ِت ٰو ٰم َّ
الس ىَلَع
ۡ
نَا َن َۡيبَاَف ِلاَبِجۡال
ا َ
سِۡن ۡ
اۡل َاهََلمَحَو َاه ۡنِم َن ۡ
قَف ۡ
شََاو َاهَنۡلِم ۡ
حَّي
اام ۡوُلَظ َانَك ٗ
هَّنِا
ُؕ
ُن
اۡل ۡوَُهج
Indeed, We offered the Trust to the heavens and the
earth and the mountains, and they declined to bear it and
feared it; but man [undertook to] bear it. Indeed, he was
unjust and ignorant.
14. Here Amanah means
Everything that Allah has entrusted to you and
instructed you to take care of.

15. Allah Commands to uphold trust
Allah says in Sura Nisa: 58
َّنِا
َ ه
ّٰللا
ۡ
مُكُرُمَۡاي
ا ۡوُّدَؤُت ۡ
نَا
ِت ٰن ٰمَ ۡ
اۡل
ٰلِا
َن َۡيب ۡ
مُت ۡ
مََكح اَذِاَو َاهِل ۡ
هَا ى
ا ۡوُمُك ۡ
حَت ۡ
نَا ِاسَّنال
ِل ۡ
دَعۡالِب
ِعِن َ ه
ّٰللا َّنِا ُؕ
َك َ ه
ّٰللا َّنِا ُؕ ٖهِب ۡ
مُكُظِعَي اَّم
َان
ا ََۢع ۡيِم َ
س
اار ۡيِصَب
Indeed, Allah commands you to return trusts to their
rightful owners; and when you judge between people, judge
with justice. What a noble commandment from Allah to you!
Surely Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.
16. Do not consume other’s wealth
Allah says in Sura Baqara: 188)
َ
َۡلو
ِلِطاَبْالِب ْمَُكنْيَب ْمُكََالوْمَا اْوُلُكْأَت
ِماَّكُحْال ىَلِا َاهِب اْوُلْدُتَو
ِ ْ
اۡلِب ِاسَّنال ِلَاوْمَا ْنِِّم ااقْيِرَف اْوُلُكَْأتِل
ْمُتْنََاو ِمْث
َنْوُمَلْعَت
Do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly,
nor deliberately bribe authorities in order to devour
a portion of others’ property, knowing that it is a
sin.
17. Do not betray
Allah says in Sura Anfal: 27
َاهُّيَاٰٰۤي
ا ۡوُنَمٰا َن ۡيِذَّال
ا ۡوُن ۡوُخَت َ
ۡل
َ ه
ّٰللا
َل ۡو ُ
سَّرَالو
ٰۤۡوُن ۡوُخَتَو
ا
ٰن ٰمَا
ۡ
مُكِت
ۡ
مُتۡنََاو
َن ۡوُمَل ۡ
عَت
O you who have believed, do not betray Allah
and the Messenger or betray your trusts while
you know [the consequence].
18. Successful are those who keep trust
Allah says Sura Muminun: 8
َن ۡيِذَّالَو
ۡ
مُه
ۡ
مِهِت ٰن ٰمَ ِ
ۡل
َو
َن ۡوُع ٰر ۡ
مِهِد ۡ
هَع
And (success is attained) by those who honestly
look after their trusts and covenant,
19. Amanah in the view of
Rasul (sa)
He has no Iman who does not protect Amanah and he has
no Deen who does not keep promises. Tabarani
Return the Amanah to whom it belongs and do not commit
dishonesty to even one who did it to you. Abu Daud, Tirmizi
Once Abu Zar R. asked the prophet (Sa) for a postion, He
replied, O’ Abu Zar, you are weak, the responsibility is
Amanah, this will be a cause for humiliation on the Day of
Judgement and only those will be saved who has taken it
rightfully and perfected it. Muslim
20. Betraying is a sign of Munafiq
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him)
reported: Messenger of Allah (Sa) said,
“There are three signs of a hypocrite: When he
speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks
it; and when he is trusted, he betrays his trust.” al-
Bukhaari and Muslim
21. People’s blood, wealth and secrets are
Amanah
It was narrated that Jaabir ibn ‘Abdullah said: The Messenger of
Allah (Sa) said: “If a man says something then turns away, it
becomes a trust [which should not be disclosed by the one who
heard it].”Abu Dawood (4868). Tirmidhi
A believer is one whom the people trust with their blood and
property. Tirmizi
22. Good deeds will be taken or bad deeds will
be added
It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (Ra) said: The Messenger
of Allah (Sa) said: “Whoever has wronged someone with
regard to his honor or anything else, let him ask for his
forgiveness today, before (a Day when) there will be no
dinar and no dirham, and if he has any righteous deeds to
his credit, they will be taken from him, commensurate with
the wrong that he did, and if he does not have any good
deeds to his credit, some of the bad deeds of his
opposite number will be taken and added to his burden.”

23. Violating Amanah is a sign of Qiamah
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (peace be
upon him) said, "When honesty is lost, then wait for
the Hour." It was asked, "How will honesty be lost,
O Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him)?" He said,
"When authority is given to those who do not
deserve it, then wait for the Hour."
24. Punishment of violating Amanah
A banner will be raised on behalf of every
untrustworthy person on the day of judgment
and will be announced:
`This is because of Untrustworthiness’

26. He will be in fire who stole a cloak
It is narrated on the authority of 'Umar b. Khattab
that when it was the day of khaibar a party of
Companions of the Apostle (may peace be upon him)
came there and said: So and so is a martyr, till they
happened to pass by a man and said: So and so is a
martyr. Upon this the Messenger of Allah remarked:
Nay, not so verily I have seen him in the Fire for
the garment or cloak that he had stolen from the
booty.
27. Reward of Trustworthiness
They will rewarded by Jannatul Ferdaus- (Sura
Muminun:11)
Rasul (sa) said, They will be with Shahid and Nabi.
(Tirmizi)
28. Amanah Kept by Rasul (Sa)
Rasul (sa) was called Al Amin in his youth.
Before Hijrah Rasul (sa) directed Ali (ra) to return
the Amanah which he was entrusted by Quraish.
