Translation:
"Indeed, Abraham
was a nation,
devoutly obedient
to Allah, (and) true
in faith, and he was
not of those who
associate others
with Allah." (Quran
16:120)
This verse praises the character of Prophet Ibrahim (AS),
describing him as a nation in himself, completely devoted
and obedient to Allah, and free from the practice of
associating partners with Allah (polytheism).
3. Ibrahim (AS)
as a role
model
The glorious Quran mentions Ibrahim 73
times and tells a dozen of his different
stories and encounters with various
people, over and over again.
Every Story is followed by a powerful DUA
by Ibrahim(AS) which is guidance to all
humanity to lead a life with model code of
conduct
The Quran pays a glowing tribute to his
wisdom, bravery, love of God and
dedication to the progress of humanity.
His legacy is:
• preaching boldly the belief in one God (Tawhid),
• and his shunning of the idols of the pagans and
challenging them to reflect and think about who they
worship
• and above all his willingness to sacrifice his most
prized beloved son for the love of God.
Here we retrace his steps to his duas in
our lives to follow him as a role model
through out our life his duas and discuss
how to bring his duas in our life

Translation: "There has certainly been
for you in them an excellent pattern for
anyone whose hope is in Allah and the
Last Day. And whoever turns away -
then indeed, Allah is the Free of need,
the Praiseworthy." (Quran 60:6)
This verse emphasizes that Prophet
Ibrahim (AS) and the believers of his
time serve as an excellent example for
those who put their hope in Allah and
the Day of Judgment. It encourages
believers to follow their righteous path.
However, if anyone chooses to turn
away from this example, Allah is self-
sufficient and worthy of all praise.

and to You is the final return."
2."Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the
disbelievers, and forgive us, Our Lord!
Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might,
the Wise.”
These verses contain a powerful dua
seeking reliance on Allah, seeking
forgiveness, and asking for protection
from becoming a trial for the
Believers are to place
complete trust in Allah
(SWT) specially in hard
times.
They seek help only from
Him and know end result
of all matters is with Him
alone.
They beg from Allah
(SWT) not to be made a
trial for disbelievers.
They seek forgiveness
for their sins. This
expression of humility
before Allah (SWT)
brings his Mercy and
Kindness.
If we fail in our mission,
disbelievers will become
more arrogant and
oppressive.
Disbelievers’ atrocities
exceed to the level that
believers bow down
before them
Believers may become
so desperate in the face
of oppression that they
use immoral ways to
face it

Dua of Sarah (A.S) when
confronted by a tyrant
emperor
Sahih al Bukhari 6950:
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said,
"(The Prophet) Abraham migrated with his
wife Sarah till he reached a town where
there was a king or a tyrant who sent a
message, to Abraham, ordering him to send
Sarah to him. So when Abraham had sent
Sarah, the tyrant got up, intending to do evil
with her, but she got up and performed
ablution and prayed and said,
"Allahumma in kuntu

O Allah! If I have believed in You
and in Your Apostle, then do not
empower this oppressor over
me.' So he (the king) had an

his legs violently. "

remember others in our du’as? Are all our du’as about
ourselves?

Transliteration: Rabbanaa

Translation: “Our Lord,
accept [this] from us.
Indeed You are the
Hearing, the Knowing.”
This supplication is a
humble request to Allah,
asking Him to accept their
actions, deeds, or prayers.
It is an acknowledgment
that Allah is the All-
Hearing, who listens to
their supplications, and the
All-Knowing, who is aware
of everything. It is a plea
for acceptance and
recognition from Allah,
indicating a desire for their
efforts to be approved and
rewarded by Him.
15. Short-key takeaways from this Dua:
Prophet Ibrahim (as) did not miss any
opportunity to praise Allah and to ask for his
approval. Imagine after having built the Kaaba
you still prayed to Allah (swt) asking him to
accept whatever good you’ve just done.
Keeping Allah at the forefront of your mind
shows your niyyah (intentions). It is clear that
whatever good you do, you do it for the sake
of Allah.
16. Lessons we learn from this Dua
The lesson we can learn here is whenever we engage in some
virtuous act, we should ask Allah to accept it. This not only shows
our niyyah (intention) is pure but also serves as a reminder that
whatever good we do, we do it for the sake of Allah.
To Him is the final destination, we must live with this truth at the
forefront of our minds. All our actions and behaviors should
reflect this reality. If you get in the habit of consciously and
deliberately remembering Allah in all that you do, it can protect
you from making a bad decision that you’ll later regret.
17. Hence, it is essential that one studies the Qur’an and also has a teacher
that trains and disciplines him. One should remember Allah subhanahu
wa ta’ala gave us the commands and the Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wa
sallam taught us how to obey them. Our deeds are unacceptable, if they
are not for the sake of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and on the way of the
Prophet salAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.
The four tasks outlined by Prophet Ibraheem should be our tasks too.
We must learn how to recite the Book correctly (in the language that it
was revealed). We should then understand its meaning with a proper,
learned teacher who helps us in identifying our mistakes and in
correcting them. We should not limit ourselves to the Qur’an only, but
we also study the Sunnah and the more skilled among us should also
study the Islamic jurisprudence [fiqh].
Once we have learned the Book and Sunnah, we should not retain the
knowledge to ourselves but pass it on to others. And this is why
teachers are well-respected in Islam. They are heirs of the prophets.
They are doing what the prophets ‘alayhi salaam did.
Prophet Ibraheem ends his supplication by saying, “Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise.” This
displays yaqeen [conviction]! He has made the du’a. He acknowledges that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is Mighty, He is Able to do
all things. But he also knows that He is Wise meaning that some of his du’as might not be answered if Allah subhanahu wa
ta’ala does not find them proper. Nothing escapes the ability of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. He is Wise in His decisions, His actions
and He puts everything in its rightful place due to His perfect knowledge, wisdom and justice.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala allow us to pick our paths wisely and be committed to Deen, ameen.
Lessons:
18. Point of Reflection
How is our relationship
with the Qur’an? How
often do we recite it? Do
we know the proper
recitation rules? Do we
also understand its
meanings and know the
background of the ayaat?
How often do we complete
the recitation of the entire
Qur’an? We must
complete one reading
almost every month if not
once a week.
19. DUAS – 1 OF

“My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with
fruits – whoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day.”
Surah Baqarah Ayat 126
his verse gives an example of rectitude or righteousness
of Allah, so in terms of food, drinking, eating, sleeping,
and playing Allah will give justly to both the believers and
non-believers. But he warns us to not be fooled into
thinking that wealth or riches is a sign of his blessings.
No, the final destination is to Allah and here we will all
face the consequence of our choices.
20. DUAS – 2 OF PROPHET
IBRAHIM (AS) FOR
MAKKAH The difference between this du’a and the one covered previously is in two
letters, alif lam ( َدَلَبْٱلvs ادَلَب
) it is a small difference but the meaning
changes.
Prophet Ibrahim (as) now returns to Makkah, he recognizes it as an
established city and asks that it remains secure.
When things are going well, we forget the one who made it possible for
us. We fall into this trap of believing our superiority and become arrogant
when we win.
It is here the past communities deviated from the beliefs and standards
which brought upon their original success.
Iblees is patient and will wait for the opportune time to cause corruption.
We must not get lazy when things are going well, in fact, this is the time
where we need to double-down in our faith. At the height of your success
is when we will be tested the most, Ibrahim (as) knowing this asks that we
are protected from engaging in these sinful activities.

These verses are from Surah Ibrahim (14:39-41) in the
Quran. They represent the supplications made by
Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham).
The translation of the verses is as follows:
"Praise be to Allah, Who hath granted unto me in old
age Isma'il and Isaac: for truly my Lord is He, the
Hearer of Prayer!"
"O my Lord! make me one who establishes regular
Prayer, and also (raise such) among my offspring O
our Lord! and accept Thou my Prayer."
"Our Lord! cover (us) with Thy Forgiveness - me, my
parents, and (all) Believers, on the Day that the
Reckoning will be established!"
These verses reflect the sincere prayers and supplications of Prophet
Ibrahim to Allah. He expresses gratitude for the blessings of having
children in his old age, namely Isma'il (Ishmael) and Isaac. Prophet
Ibrahim also prays to Allah to make him and his descendants
establish regular prayer and to accept his supplication.
Additionally, Prophet Ibrahim seeks Allah's forgiveness for himself,
his parents, and all believers on the Day of Judgment when everyone
will be held accountable for their actions.
These verses demonstrate Prophet Ibrahim's devotion, gratitude, and
concern for his own and future generations' faith and well-being, as
well as his reliance on Allah's forgiveness and mercy.
22. As Muslims, we should be careful in not losing hope in our dua. We should also ensure that we
don’t get impatient by setting expectations for getting immediate results. The Prophet (SAW)
said:“You will be answered so long as you are not in a hurry and say, ‘I made dua but I did
not receive a response.’”
“So verily, with the hardship, there is relief, verily, with the hardship, there is relief.”[Surah
Al-Sharh, 94:5-6]
The Prophet (SAW) advised Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father):“Know
that victory (or achievement) comes through patience, and that ease comes through
hardship…”
While we should be patient in making Dua, we should at the same time be persistent. Being
persistent means to repeat your dua to Allah and not giving faith or hope. This is proven by the
prophets’ (SAW) traditions. Muslim [1794] narrated that Ibn Mas’ood (RA) said:When the
Prophet (SAW) made dua he would repeat it three times, and when he asked he would ask
three times.
Ibn Al-Qayyim (RH) said in Al-Daa’ wa’l-Dawa’ [p.25]:One of the most beneficial of remedies is
persisting in dua.
In Kitaab Al-Zuhd by Imam Ahmad [305] it is narrated from Qataadah:
Mawraq said:I can find no other likeness for the believer except that of a man who is at
sea, clinging onto a piece of wood, and saying, “O Lord, O Lord,” that Allah might save
him.
