This poem discusses how individual people come together like grains of wheat to become one body or bread. Each person must first fall and give of themselves before joining with others. From many different places, people are gathered and broken down but then united to feed the hungry and be the body of God in the world.

1.As grain of wheat are
gathered in we’ve
come together; from
lives apart we bring
our hearts to make
one whole.

For many are we, and
broken we’ve come, but
we
shall become one.

and give itself: it first
is broken; then, joined
with others, make one
body and one bread.

harvest comes to feed
