How did you use new media technologies in
1. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
2. Research When beginning research for our music video, we decided we needed inspiration before the inception of our project. We needed an idea of effects and shot types. We used the internet to help aid our search. We found a video we liked to take stimulation from, ‘James Blake- Limit to your love’ This is the opening shot of the video. We immediately decided this was the type of effect that we required in our video to create a dream like sequence. When watching a selection of strange music videos, we found Lady Gaga’s- ‘Bad Romance’ video had a selection of effects we wanted to incorporate into our work. We used the idea of a distorted face in our print work.
3. Construction For all of our scenes, we used a Sony HD camcorder to shoot our material. The new cameras allowed us to capture specific detail and lighting conditions. These specific elements were vital to the production of our work as we needed definite effects to get our required outcome. We used the HD digital cameras to take still images during our planning process. We took pictures of our chosen locations to ensure we had the correct mise en scene to suit our style of music video.
4. Media Software We used Adobe Premier Pro to cut our video material. When first using the program we discovered difficulties in working the software, however after a few experimental sessions we got the hang of all the tools. The most vital tool our group used was ‘The Razor’ tool. This was effective as we required very short sharp cuts. We used Adobe Photoshop to edit and devise our digipak and poster. The tools allowed us to blur, distort and create desired effects to our print work.
