Edu 290 Resisting Change In The Classroom

Editor's Notes

  1. Resisting change in the classroom.
  2. Uneducated teachers plus old fashioned teachers equals unwilling teachers. While many teachers today have conformed to more modern uses of technology and curriculum, there are still many who refuse to leave their traditional, old ways of teaching. Some of these teachers are unwilling, while others just don’t know enough about technology to be able to use it in a classroom setting.
  3. Some teachers want nothing to do with new technology. They think old traditional ways of teaching work just fine, and technology is just a waste of time.
  4. Other teachers just aren’t motivated to learn about the new tools that could really make their jobs easier, and help the students focus.
  5. Some older teachers don’t know how to use this new technology. They would rather stick to old fashioned ways of teaching and keeping students engaged.
  6. Another type of change in the classroom has to do with diversity. Many teachers aren’t prepared for some of the challenges they must take on with diverse students. Some students come from different cultural backgrounds. Other students have physical handicaps that might need special help in the classroom. Other students might have learning needs that the teacher needs to be aware of. The teacher should be taught how to handle all of these different types of situations.
  7. Many teachers have methods of teaching that have worked over the past years. However, times change and we find out that some methods work better than others. Teachers need to be educated about different methods that exist in the education world, and figure out current methods that work for them.
  8. If the teacher is uneducated in all of these areas, it’s going to reflect onto their students. If a teacher decides not to use a new kind of technology, the students aren’t going to be familiar with it, and will be in the dark in the years to come when their other teachers are using new technology to help their students grow. Also, if a teacher is not educated on how to treat a student with different needs, the other students in the classroom will not know how to treat those students either.
  9. The students of the uneducated teacher may have problems in the future with adapting to technology, diversity, and modern curriculums. Teachers are role models, especially for young students, and need to show that they are informed and confident in new areas of learning.
  10. Internet 2 is helping people to understand the new age in technology. The purpose is to educate students, parents, and teachers about the future of technology and how it will help future generations learn.
  11. Technology is ever changing and will keep getting more advanced. Our communities will continue to grow more and more diverse. Schools and classrooms are beginning to stray away from traditional teaching methods. Our current and future educators need to be aware of these changes, and how to deal with them because this could seriously affect the future of the world.
