This kind of event or activity collaboration between the government
and private institutions helps our farmers learn and asses potential
commercial varieties they can cultivate. And government sectors encourage
them to produce local vegetables and fruits in our market. Aside from that
farmers can interact with technicians that could help in their queries.
This supports the directive from the Department of Agriculture (DA) to
ensure food security and affordability in our country. The cooperator of the
said harvest festival, Ma'am Maria David, also encourages farmers to sell
their produce directly to the local trading post or markets to eliminate the
access of selling agents. And continue to partner up with the private seed
companies when it comes to varieties in the market.
Mr. Bennie Tiotuico (RAMGO) also advises the farmers that even a
1000 sq meter of land area with different commodities can generate income
up to P100,000 if the management of crops is well maintained.
The local government and agriculture office of Pampanga hoping to
have more of these events as the region is one of the closest provinces to
Manila to conduct lowland vegetable demonstrations.
