• The colourful scenes at the news report and then how
that contrasts to the dark, secretive meeting.

shows that the meeting is secretive and this makes the
audience ask who they are and what they are doing.

• We are introduced to a few of the main characters:
• The Malaysian Prime Minister – we learn of his actions and how
they put him in danger.
• Mugatu – we find out he is a designer. He is sat on his own in the
meeting with his dog to show he is the main character in this
meeting.
• Derek Zoolander – we discover that he is a male model, he is very
dumb and will be targeted to assassinate the Malaysian Prime
Minister.

• Yes, the opening is funny and the genre is a comedy, so
simply it helps guess the genre by using comedy in the
opening minutes.

supposed to make you feel?
• Simply, the opening is meant to make you laugh. As it is
a comedy the main aim is to basically impress you with
humour.

• The opening shows a serious storyline with the aspect of
death and murder but it also mixes it with comedy. This
makes it interesting and unique.
