34. What’s happening right now!
• As we sit here, we are in the midst o a drought in Africa. Under trees
there are infants trying to feed from mothers whose frail bodies try to
protect there children from the seering sun, and young men to weak
to walk, waiting for death in the shade. Others in camps, in long
lines, are waiting for food that has been delayed until the TV
cameras arrive.
• I cannot tell you what its like to be a mother knowing that you cannot
feed your child, but many say that its hell without light, a horror
seeing the ones you would give your life for starve in front of you.
Some say the nights are the worst-cuddling up to children who
cannot sleep for the pain they are in. Others say the day watching
the slow disintegration of there infants.
44. Never forget…
• Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about
the things that matter. The world is tired of anger and
cynicism, the politics of personal destruction and a
media that sells itself through stories of scandals,
failures and tradgedies. Although it is undoubtedly part of
what is happening, we do not hear about the acts of
goodness and deeds of greatness.
• There are more people doing more good in more
voluntary organisations around the world than
there are soldiers.
45. We make our living by what
we get…..
We make our lives by
what we give!
