How to play the card game "Blackjack"

1. HOW TO PLAY BLACKJACK

2. OBJECTIVES
• Beat the dealer
• Your card total needs to be higher than dealers without
going over 21
• Over 21=a “Bust” and automatic lodd
• If dealer Busts but you don’t, you Win!

3. CARD VALUES
• Card suits don’t matter in Blackjack.
• Cards 2-10 are counted at face value
• All face cards have a value of 10
• Ace can count as a 1 or 11
The total of any hand is the sum of your card values

4. BLACK JACK 101
• Dealer and all players receive 2 cards
• One of dealer’s cards is dealt face up with numbers
showing
• Player’s cards can be dealt up or down, dependent on the
dealer
• Each Player sees the value of his cards against the dealer
and must make a playing decision

5. BLACKJACK GAME PLAY
• Hitting= taking another card
• To hit, tap the table in front of you
• Staying= stop receiving cards
• Staying is done by waving your hand over your cards

6. SPLITTING PAIRS IN BLACK JACK
• If you have a pair of cards, you can split pairs
• Splitting pairs is playing each card like a separate hand
• You must make an additional bet
• To signal the dealer you would like to split pairs, place
your second bet next to your first

7. DOUBLING DOWN IN BLACKJACK
• Doubling down is doubling your bet after receiving
your first two cards
• After doubling down you receive 1 additional card
only

8. HOW TO SURRENDER IN
BLACKJACK
• Surrendering in Blackjack allows you to forfeit your
hand after receiving your 2 cards
• Automatic loss of half of your original bet
• Not all casinos allow this
• You cannot surrender after receiving more than 2
cards
