game, & will enforce

“communication.” Ask participants
if they know what communication
means, and to offer explanation/ex-

1. Kids were split into two 			
teams, team red & team blue
2. Team red lined up at homebase
and practiced kicking the ball to the
outfield, where team blue practiced
catching the ball and running it to
the nearest base.

Participants &
Registration
The target population of
the kickball activity will
include Bishop Peak
Elementary School
students participating in
the Sun-N-Fun program
ranging in age from kin-
dergarten to third grade.
The activity will be
aimed towards a group
of twenty participants.
Staffing
Volunteers from Cal Poly
RPTA 260 class will as-
sist with the activity.
They will be responsible
for assisting with set up
of kickball courts and
drill areas, facilitating
drills, serving as coaches
and referees, ensuring
safety and smoothness
of activity, and will over-
see kickball activity mak-
ing sure participants
are safe, having fun, and
following the rules.
Facilities &
Equipment
The activity will be held
at Bishop’s Peak
Elementary School, 51
Jaycee Dr, San Luis
Obispo, CA 93405. The
activity will require use
of the basketball court
to be set up and used
as the kickball court.
Bishop’s Peak will
provide 5 kickballs.
Dr. Greenwood will
provide cones and clip-
boards.
Safety & Risk
Management
To ensure safety of the
participants, there will
be a first aid kit on site
in case anyone is injured
during the activity. There
will also be trained staff
and volunteers around
to watch and ensure the
safety of participants.
To prevent any injuries,
it is asked that partici-
pants wear closed toe
shoes and comfortable
athletic clothes when
participating.
Game Rules &
Policies
* Each team will have 10 players. Players will
be divided into teams randomly.
* Each player will kick the ball once per in-
ning. Once the entire lineup has kicked, the
teams will switch sides, from outfield to in-
field.
* Each player will have the chance to kick the
ball three times per at bat. If the ball isn’t
kicked after three balls, the player can take a
base.
* Players will run to the next base when the
next kicker kicks the ball.
* Players are out if tagged by the ball.
* Runners must stay within the base line.
* No sliding when running bases.
* A pitch must be rolled on the ground to
home base.
Required Reports &
Evaluation
This activity will require
few reports. It will in-
clude signing up for an
activity and date, as well
as an evaluation at the
close of the program.
We will reflect at the end
of the activity and ask
for feedback from vol-
unteers regarding what
went well and what
could be improved.
Cancellation
Policies
In case of a cancella-
tion due to weather, the
kickball activity will be
moved indoors to a caf-
eteria or gym, where
space permits. If space
is unavailable, facilitators
will lead participants in
fun, interactive indoor
games.
