What is
Invisalign?
Invisalign is an alternative to
traditional braces that uses a
series of clear, removable plastic
aligners to gradually shift your
teeth into their desired position.
You can achieve effective results
that deliver a straight, beautiful
smile without the hassles
associated with metal braces.
What Can Invisalign Treat?
Invisalign is an effective way to address the following
types of orthodontic issues:
Overbite
Underbite
Crossbite
Crowded teeth
Unevenly spaced teeth
Invisalign works best when treating mild to moderate
bite alignment issues. More serious orthodontic
problems may require braces.
Am I a Candidate for Invisalign?
Most adults and teenagers who would like
to straighten their smile are good
candidates for Invisalign. In general, ideal
Invisalign candidates:
Have healthy teeth and gums
Have a fully developed mouth
Do not smoke
You may still be a candidate for Invisalign if
you have cavities or gum disease. However,
these conditions must be treated before
you can move forward with your
procedure.
The Invisalign Process
Our dentists will use 3D computer imaging
technology to take a digital impression of your bite.
This impression is used by the Invisalign lab to
create a series of customized aligners.
You'll wear each aligner for approximately 2 weeks
and then move onto the next aligner in the series.
By the time you make it through the last aligner in
the series, you'll have a straight, beautiful smile.
While treatment time varies based on the specifics
of your condition, most adults complete the
process in about 12 months, which is a significantly
shorter treatment period than braces.
Invisalign Teen
Invisalign Teen is specially designed to address the unique orthodontic issues
associated with adolescents. This treatment offers the same great benefits as the
adult version, and many teenagers prefer this option over braces since it
eliminates the teasing that commonly accompanies having a "mouth full of
metal."
Invisalign
Aligners are
Removable
One of the greatest benefits of
Invisalign is that you can remove
your aligners for eating and
brushing your teeth. This allows
you to eat all your favorite foods
and ensures optimal levels of oral
hygiene.
In order to get the best possible
results from your treatment, you'll
need to wear your aligners 20-22
hours a day. Therefore, you should
only remove them for eating and
brushing.
Invisalign vs. Braces
Many adults and teens prefer Invisalign because it
offers the following benefits compared to traditional
braces:
Removable - Take out your aligners when eating and
brushing.
Comfort - The smooth, form-fitting aligners won't
irritate your mouth like the sharp metal brackets and
wires used with braces.
Invisible - Invisalign offers a more discreet treatment.
Fewer dental visits - There are no brackets and wires
that require tightening, so you will have fewer office
visits during your treatment.
Cost of Invisalign Treatment
The cost of your Invisalign treatment varies based on the following factors:
The severity of your bite alignment issues
The number of aligners required to complete your treatment
The need for additional devices such as a nighttime retainer
following completion of your treatment
At Arlington Dental Aesthetics and South Riding Smiles, we offer a variety
of financing options to ensure your procedure fits into your budget.
