The document discusses a conversational theme about the typical British countryside for a 29-year-old woman who enjoys the country but is not yet ready to move there. It mentions final templates and keeping with brand values.
Hurricane Sandy caused significant damage along the Jersey shore and New York area in October 2012. The hurricane was followed by heavy snow storms and fires that compounded the damage. Hurricane Sandy's economic impact was estimated at $50 billion across West Virginia, New York, Maine, New Jersey and other locations as it affected infrastructure, homes, and lives.
This document outlines the work packages (WPs) for a project aimed at increasing automotive industry competitiveness through an integrated and AI-driven energy management system. The WPs include system design and validation (WP1), energy and emissions metering (WP2), power generation and consumption modeling (WP3-WP4), defining and optimizing an energy hub (WP5), integrating and validating the system at an industrial plant (WP6), exploitation and dissemination of results (WP7), and project management and coordination (WP8). The overall goal is to develop an intelligent energy control system to optimize energy use and costs for industrial automation.
This document provides an overview of a project focused on vintage shops and items in Nottingham, England. It discusses researching various vintage goods like clothing, letters, postcards, and magazines. It also maps out several vintage shops located in Nottingham city center and considers designing a postcard or map highlighting their locations. The goal is to capture different eras and styles of vintage items from the 1920s to 20 years ago using colors like pinks, blues, yellows and greens. Prototypes are shown of a simple map marked with vintage clothing items to indicate shop locations.
This document discusses effective advertising methods and analyzes Victoria Oldham's choice to advertise her writing business Global Words through print leaflets. While leaflets can be effective, research shows people are less likely to open leaflets without compelling headlines. Most people now use the internet for advertising due to lower costs and wider reach. The document suggests Victoria could have better promoted her existing website and blog rather than using leaflets, and that social media provides the largest potential audience given its popularity.
- The document discusses designing a new print for Cath Kidston, focusing on brand values, style, and creating a unique yet appealing design for their target audience.
- Research includes examining Cath Kidston's existing designs, competitors, and potential themes like British travel, festivals, and vintage styles.
- Initial concepts incorporate British symbols like the Queen's head and Union Jack flag with Cath Kidston's colors and themes. The design process then shifts to exploring London Underground and British countryside ideas.
This document discusses effective advertising methods for new businesses. It considers print media like newspapers, magazines and leaflets but notes that websites, blogs, and social media may be more cost effective and have a wider reach. While the client, Victoria Oldham, owner of writing business Global Words, wanted to use leaflets, the assistant suggests staying internet-based by improving her existing website and blog. Research shows people are less likely to open brochures without compelling headlines, and internet use is rising globally while print readership declines. If the business expands, social media offers the largest potential audience. In the end, the assistant designs marketing leaflets for Global Words as requested while still advising internet promotion for greatest future impact.
The document outlines the initial planning process for a vintage-themed project in Nottingham, England. It begins with mind mapping around interests in vintage clothes, shopping, and items. Wallpaper textures and floral patterns were an initial inspiration. Sketches and mood boards were created showing vintage photos, clothes, and fonts. Research looked at vintage colors, shopping trends, and competitors. The aim was to create a map and leaflet highlighting vintage shops in Nottingham, though a postcard idea was abandoned. Prototypes were made before determining the final outcome.

A survey found that 50% of people felt social networking sites were the best way for a new business to advertise as they provide worldwide reach and easy accessibility. While traditional print advertising is declining due to increased online options, print still targets specific audiences. Websites are also effective but require promotion so people know how to find the site. The most successful promotions utilize multiple methods rather than relying on just one.
zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...Alex Pruden
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).
