Editor's Notes

  • #3 You see pictures of this kind everywhere. How would you respond? These are the things which made the founder start YFS. To create a platform where all these youth can find opportunities to serve the community. Convenient time, place and individual interest because these are the things that are stopping people from volunteering. Profile of volunteers briefly..some it professionals do it full time during a break.
  • #6 Registration – fb, referral, website, media. Mapping zonal coord will do. Briefly talk about structure. Orientation every 15 days. Familiarizzation – field visit, interaction with volunteers already working, domain related training. Freedom to explore/experiment 2-3 hours on weekends Meeting experts in the field Informal and supportive atmosphere
  • #7 Discuss why there are these areas of work. All the problems cn be broadly categorized into 4 areas. Activities are designed so that we can create an impact in a meaningful way with weekend volunteering. Before a volunteer is mapped the need is assessed through interaction with the community Eye-prescreening is the primary thing and approximately 10-15 percent of the total children screened are found to have issues.

  • #12 Code of conduct + challenges + mindset. Coming out of comfort zone.
  • #13 80 percent of the schools in the country are run by government, hence, understanding them and thus gets to see the real world as we are all part of one big family.. Clearing miscpnceptions(Discuss slum visit). You get to meet eminent persons working in this field and you understand governance better. Because you are working in a dimension entirely new, you discover skills that you didn’t know you had before. Because you are fighting bopredom and free time is used, you keep away from bad habits and not squandering money. This is how even youth is benefitted (Seva for youth)
