Charles Yates is a senior at Full Sail University studying music production. He has worked as a producer at Ape Studios in Toledo, Ohio teaching young people about music and music production. Yates has a background in playing various instruments and was in a local R&B group in high school. He went to college for music and later worked as an assistant band director before discovering synthesizers and digital music production tools. Yates is now studying various music production software and recently composed a song for WWE. He is looking to gain experience working for others in the music industry.

3. My name is Charles Yates

4. I am currently a Senior at Full Sail University majoring in
Music Production

8. But let me start from the beginning..

9. I started playing Trumpet at the age of 13. I then
started playing Guitar,Bass and Drums. In High School
I joined a local R&B group which opened for groups
such as “New Birth”,”Harold Melvin And The Blue
Notes”, and “Cameo”

10. Upon graduation, I received Music Scholarships
from Alabama A&M,Bishop College and Florida
A&M

11. I chose FAMU…

12. After leaving FAMU, I returned to my Alma
Mater Jesup W.Scott H.S.

13. As the Assistant Band Director/ Musical
Arranger. I loved working with the young
people..

14. Then came Synthesizers,Samplers,Drum
Machines,and Portastudios in 1985..I
then had the power to not only compose..

15. But I could also play all of the parts
and record them

16. And I did..and loved it.

17. Mob Style Records ran into legal issues which
suspended signing with a major label shortly
after the release of the album..I was crushed..

18. So I quit..

19. Four years ago a couple of my friends who have made a
name for themselves in the industry was in town for a
benefit concert. I was invited down to “sit-in” with them.

20. So I went out to a local studio for a
session..I was asked to man the console..

21. I WAS LOST..DIDN’T HAVE A CLUE..
But THEY didn’t know that..

22. I hadn’t been in a studio in 20
years..then I got an idea..
