Robert M. Edwards celebrates an astonishing 45 years of practiced industry experience
STATE COLLEGE, PA, March 29, 2016, Robert Edwards, Owner of Edwards Analysis and Consulting, has been
recognized by Worldwide Branding for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nuclear power plant digital
control and safety system software and licensing requirements.
With unparalleled expertise in his field, Dr. Edwards lends nearly four and a half decades of industry knowledge to his
role with Edwards Analysis and Consulting, which provides 1) Digital control and safety system software and
associated licensing requirements, 2) Advanced computer monitoring, 3) Consulting services, 4) Onsite nuclear
reactor control courses and much more. Safety Systems (analog or digital) require Nuclear Regulatory Commission
licensing. Based on the knowledge and experience of Dr. Edwards, the company knows how to get your digital safety
system licensed. During the course of his daily routine, in his role as the owner of the company, he keeps the business
plan Uptodate, oversees general operations and manages marketing and accounting.
An active member of the American Nuclear Society since 1990, Dr. Edwards excels in his field because of his prior
experiences as 1) a Professor of Nuclear Engineering for 25+ years that included over five million dollars of funded
research and supervision of numerous graduate students in the completion of their advanced degrees. Dr. Edwards
concluded his career at Penn State in 2012, was designated Professor Emeritus of Nuclear Engineering and started
the company in 2013, 2) Director of Software Development at LeMont Scientific for 10 years, and 3) his educational
background that started at Penn State in 1967 with completion of the B.S. degree in 1971. In just two additional
semesters the master's degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Wisconsin was completed in parallel with
completion of Army ROTC. The master's degree and commission as a 2nd Lieutenant were bestowed in June 1972.
After working in the Nuclear Power Industry from 1972 to 1977, Mr. Edwards joined LeMont Scientific where he
learned entrepreneurship, "not from a book" but through addressing the needs of a small company. In 1987, Mr.
Edwards returned to Penn State as a project associate while pursing the Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from Penn State
University. Mr. Edwards could not submit proposals to funding agencies under his name but knew how to "get money"
based on his first hand entrepreneurial experience at LeMont Scientific. Mr. Edwards "ghost wrote" proposals which
were submitted by Professors. The wellcrafted proposals were funded. Mr. Edwards completed the Ph.D. in 1991 and
applied for the open Assistant Professor Position in the Nuclear Engineering Department. Of course, a faculty search
was conducted. But the department was stuck. A question was posed, "If Dr. Edwards were not offered the job, which
Professor would finish the Department Head's big DOE project (which was created and conducted by Mr. Edwards)?"
Every successful Professor is an entrepreneur and so are clever project associates. The entrepreneurial work
performed by Mr. Edwards from 1977 to 1991 that led to the appointment of Dr. Edwards as Assistant Professor
exemplifies the beginning of an additional 21+ years added to his successful career at Penn State. Can there be any
doubt in anybody's mind that Edwards Analysis and Consulting "knows how to get your digital safety system licensed".
In parallel with completion of his career at Penn State, Dr. Edwards earned additional credits towards an MBA in
Technology Management. The last course taken was Entrepreneurship where all students had to write a Business
Plan. Dr. Edwards is now using what he "learned from a book" to maintain the Business Plan for Edwards Analysis and
Consulting. Every successful business continuously updates their business plan.
Throughout the course of his storied career, he has been recognized for his skills numerous times, including being
awarded the Faculty Summer Fellowship at NASA Glenn Research Center and a full graduate fellowship to the
University of Wisconsin. Looking toward the future, Dr. Edwards experience will continue the growth of his career and
his company.
