4. HEALTH
EQUITY

differences among groups of people, whether those groups are
defined socially, economically, demographically or
geographically or by other means of stratification.”
- World Health Organisation
An Ambitious goal for Global health
Fair achievement of good health
and well-being, and not simply the

11. GENDER
MAINSTREAMING
“Mainstreaming a gender
perspective process of assessing
the implications for women and
men of any planned action,
including legislation, policies or
programmes, in all areas and at
all levels”.
The ultimate goal is to achieve gender equality
“World is unfair to women
even before birth
(Foeticide) and till their
death”
12. Women’s participation in the workforce is just 28% in India. Had
there been gender equality, India would have added 27% to the GDP,
according to a McKinsey Global Institute study.
Many things keep Indian women out of the workplace, from inherent patriarchy, safety concerns,
prevalent stereotypes and the difficulty in gaining a foothold in male-dominated jobs.
While cultural norms are changing and gender equality is widely accepted in
principle, there is a long way to go in translating it into practice.
14. WHAT IS SOCIAL INNOVATION IN HEALTH ?
SOCIAL INNOVATION in health presents a lens or an approach through which countries can
be supported to achieve SUSTAINABLE, EQUITABLE and INTEGRATED PEOPLE-
CENTERED health systems and health services.
The primary intended outcome of social innovation is;
ENHANCED QUALITY OF LIFE JUSTICE EQUITY

Alma Ata ideals of EQUITY, social JUSTICE and COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION in basic
health care delivery and support the achievement of Universal Health Coverage and the
Sustainable Development Goals.
