Words Over Time
Typography of Rome
“A picture is worth a thousand words.” But what happens when the main
subject of the photograph is words, itself? During the last hours of the day, as
the engines go quiet and the city slowly falls asleep, letters, words, ads, and
signs stand solo in the deserted streets of Rome.
As their presence during the day is outshined by the continuous frantic life,
through photographing the typography of Rome over 24 hours, I wanted to
capture its prevalent role in the city. Through these photographs, my intent is
to get a taste of the letters’ longevity and modernity.
