Woodie Guthrie was a prolific American singer-songwriter who traveled around the country in the 1930s and 1940s, writing hundreds of songs and poems about the working class. Some of his most famous songs include "This Land Is Your Land" and "Worried Man Blues". He recorded many of his songs for Folkways Records and served in the Merchant Marine and Army during World War II. In the 1950s, he lived in Coney Island where he continued writing and inspired many folk artists like Bob Dylan. Since his death, many musicians have covered his songs to honor his legacy and influence on folk and protest music.
