The primary objective of the present study is to identify the constraints and problems faced by women entrepreneurs while starting and managing their enterprise in Jodhpur district of western Rajasthan. Women entrepreneurs in manufacturing, trading and servicing sector were selected .100 samples were selected through simple random sampling. Primary data was collected through interview schedule. Data collected was suitably tabulated and analyzed and further conclusions were drawn. This paper also suggests some measures on the part of government and other organizations supporting the growth of women entrepreneurship. Suggestions are also given for existing and potential women entrepreneurs.

This study on employment of people with disabilities (PWDs) in the private sector in India was undertaken in 2014 by the American India Foundation (AIF), supported by a team of sighted and visually-impaired researchers and experts from the NAB Centre for Blind Women & Disability Studies, a unit of National Association for the Blind (NAB), Mumbai.
The report has been compiled on the basis of primary research covering 105 small, medium and large companies in selected sectors employing persons with disabilities, their level of engagement, policies and practices in place. The research team administered a brief questionnaire to the sample. The sectors included Hotels, Hospitals, Garments, Information Technology (IT) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES), Spas, Food Processing, Food and Beverage (F&B) and Retail, Electrical Goods, and Banking. The researchers held appointments with the human resources (HR) departments or top management of these companies to collect first-hand information through intensive interviews, supplemented by secondary research.
The objective of the report is to examine the key practices, operations, policies, and critical success factors of employers in the Indian private sector who have demonstrated inclusive employment policies. The information so compiled is meant to serve as resource material for other employers to emulate.
There is increasing recognition that economically empowering women is essential both to realize women’s rights and to achieve broader development goals such as economic growth, poverty reduction, health, education and welfare. In the last five years, a broad range of organizations have committed themselves to the goal of women’s economic empowerment.
These organizations realize that economically empowering women is a win-win that can benefit not only women, but society more broadly. It promotes women’s ability to achieve their rights and well-being while also reducing household poverty, increasing economic growth and productivity, and increasing efficiency.
Research has found strong reasons to emphasize women’s economic empowerment in development programs:
• Economic empowerment is one of the most powerful routes for women to achieve their potential and advance their rights.
• Since women make up the majority of the world’s poor, meeting poverty-reduction goals requires addressing women and their economic empowerment.
• Discrimination against women is economically inefficient. National economies lose out when a substantial part of the population cannot compete equitably or realize its full potential.
• Working with women makes good busi- ness sense. When women have the right skills and opportunities, they can help businesses and markets grow.
• Women who are economically empowered contribute more to their families, societies and national economies.
It has been shown that women invest extra income in their children, providing a route to sustain- able development. As interest in fostering women’s economic empowerment grows, two questions arise.
1. How is women’s economic empowerment defined? What does the term women’s economic empowerment encompass?
2. How can women’s economic empowerment be measured and evaluated so organizations can show they are on the right track to achieving it? Answers to these questions are essential to design meaningful strategies that will lead to women’s economic empowerment.
This document addresses them by presenting:
1. A definition of women’s economic empowerment;
2. A measurement framework that can guide the design, implementation and evaluation of programs to economically empower women; and
3. A set of illustrative indicators that can serve as concrete examples for developing meaningful metrics for success.

Indian society today has witnessed a surge of
women entrepreneurship. There arises a need to examine
the challenges of women entrepreneurs in greater depth.
This study attempts to understand these challenges as well
as explore the dimensions that emerge from these
challenges. The study is based on exploratory qualitative
study of 20 women entrepreneurs in India. The narratives
reveal six major themes: Desire to create self- identity and
derive satisfaction through entrepreneurship, doing what
one loves to do, perceiving risk taking as an enjoyable
experience, entrepreneurship as a medium to contribute to
society, success speaks for itself and willing to learn, unlearn
and relearn.

“It is necessary to take a multi-dimensional perspective on poverty reduction. This includes ‘bottom-up growth strategies’ to encourage the broad-based rise of entrepreneurial initiatives” (UNIDO 2003:9). Women are a significant economic entrepreneurial force whose contributions to local, national and global economies are far reaching.
Women produce and consume, manage businesses and households, earn income, hire labor, borrow and save, and provide a range of services for businesses and workers. Women also produce more than 80 percent of the food consumed in Sub-Saharan Africa, 50-60 percent of all staples in Asia, and generate 30 percent of all food consumed in Latin America (see Annex 2, Box 8).
Women represent an increasing proportion of the world’s waged labor force and their activity rates are rising. In Africa, Asia, and Latin America, they are over one third of the officially enumerated workforce (WISTAT 2000). Women-run businesses can be found in emerging sectors such as the production and marketing of consumer goods, commercial banking, financial services, insurance, information services, communications, and transport.
As owners of SMEs, women furnish local, national and multinational companies with ideas, technology, supplies, components, and business services (Jalbert 2000). These activities are likely to prove fundamental as developing economies transition from primarily agricultural to industrial production and become more urbanized. Furthermore, as economies liberalize and open their borders, women-owned and operated SMEs are engaging in international trade—enhancing the prominence and visibility of women entrepreneurs globally.
Understanding how women access markets as producers and wage laborers is likely to prove critical for fostering pro-poor and inclusive economic growth. Analyzing where women are in the global supply chain and documenting the resources they use and transform will provide information about how to strengthen local economies and maximize forward and backward linkages.
Finally, reducing barriers to market access and enhancing women’s productivity will necessarily benefit both economies and households. Entrepreneurship and investment influence the rate and pattern of growth, the types of forward and backward linkages that develop in an economy, the labor demanded, and the human capital investment required to meet these labor demands (Ravallion 2004; Ranis, Stewart, and Ramírez 2000). Rapid growth can contribute to poverty reduction where that growth is broad-based and inclusive (OECD 2004).

contribute towards the upliftment of the living standard of its people. An entrepreneur is a creator or a designer
who designs new ideas and processes of business as per the requirements of market and bears all types of risks

Women’s participation in the economic sphere is increasing day by day. This study was conducted to assess the socio economic factors that affect the development of women entrepreneurs in Tiruchirappali district. This study is descriptive in nature and mainly primary data is used for this article but to some extent secondary types of data were also incorporated. To execute this research, 120 respondents were taken using simple random sampling. The collected data was analyzed by using both descriptive and analytical procedures. After coding and organizing the data, statistical package for social sciences (SPSS .20) software was used to analyze further cleaning. Data analysis showed that economic and technological factors had positive impact upon women entrepreneurs in Tiruchirappali district than other social and cultural factors. Hence it is recommended that government and other financial institutions should work with NGOs to strengthen women’s socio economic development through imparting skill training, business oriented information and advising on services.

Decades of economic growth and development along with better governance and nutrition-specific programmes had lifted hundreds of millions of people in Asia out of poverty, as well as starvation and malnutrition. However, due to the uneven development, while a large segment of Asian's population had changed their eating habits to over-nutrition diets and worrying about lifestyle diseases like diabetes, cancer and heart diseases, there are still some countries and regions suffering from lack of nutrition. For example, childhood malnutrition and stunting is still prevalent in South Asia, one Indian survey found that 21% of children suffer wasting, and a further 7.5% of children suffer it severely.

-In the past year, a third of the companies surveyed experienced a serious cyber-incident — one that disrupted operations, impaired financials and damaged reputations — and most placed high odds on another one in the next 12 months.

-Executives cite the size of the financial and reputational risk as the most important reason for board oversight.

To find out what really makes young innovators tick, The Economist Intelligence Unit, sponsored by FedEx, surveyed more than 500 of these young entrepreneurs around the globe about their motivations, ideals and priorities. Our survey respondents were between 25 and 50 years of age and all founders, owners or partners of firms with fewer than 500 employees. They are living in North America, Europe, Middle
