The representation of Michael Jackson report jasaloma
The document discusses an investigation into Michael Jackson's representation in the media before and after his death, and the legal and ethical constraints. It describes conducting secondary research analyzing 12 media sources and primary research including a focus group, content analysis, and questionnaire. It finds Jackson's representation varied, with more balanced coverage of his death but biased coverage of allegations. It analyzes how court documents and evidence were published, sometimes inappropriately, and how Conrad Murray used media to shift blame onto Jackson. The focus group found some media sources inappropriately invaded Jackson's privacy and breached ethics.
The document contains 10 multiple choice questions about information from two chapters of a textbook on television. The questions test knowledge of details like the name NBC called their Thursday night programming ("Must-See TV"), how much each "Friends" cast member made per episode in their final season ($1 million), and the average number of hours of TV watched per year in American households (1,600 hours). The questions also cover topics such as the definition of reality TV ("unscripted" programming), quotes from industry leaders, global television producers and formats, international TV market statistics, and military-themed reality shows.
- The document provides statistics and information about reality television shows from around the world including their producers, formats, and viewership numbers. It discusses shows like Big Brother, Pop Idol, and their versions in other countries. It also provides information on the large production company Endemol and reality television producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
This document discusses the globalization of reality television and its geopolitical implications. It describes controversies over racist content in the UK's Big Brother show and the proliferation of reality TV formats across international markets by large production companies. The document also examines how some reality shows in the US promoted the military around the "War on Terror" and how Iraqi viewers found an escape in their country's new reality TV programs during a period of violence and instability.
This document proposes and outlines a reality television show concept called "Forty Shore" that follows eight people ages 38-44 living together in a shore house in New Jersey for the summer. Like Jersey Shore, it will feature partying and drama among the cast. However, as the name suggests, this cast is older and some are married or have kids. Each episode will focus on a different aspect of the housemates' lives and relationships as they bond and sometimes clash over their summer together. Research is cited showing why reality TV concepts like this focusing on ordinary people and emotional drama are popular among viewers. The proposal argues Forty Shore could achieve high ratings by combining elements that made Jersey Shore and Real Housewives of New Jersey successful shows.
NBC dominated Thursday night primetime television in the 1990s with scripted sitcoms and dramas like Friends and ER. This changed in the 2000s as reality television grew in popularity due to lower production costs. NBC chairman Jeff Zucker announced in 2005 that the network would devote the first hour of primetime each night to unscripted reality shows and reduce scripted programming. This shift reflected reality TV's growing role in television and its business model of reducing costs while increasing opportunities for product placements and audience engagement across media platforms.
This document appears to be a quiz about television shows and the television industry. It asks multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank questions about iconic TV shows like Friends, the era of "Must See TV" on NBC in the 1990s, the rise of reality television programming, viewing habits of Americans, and the business challenges that television networks and programmers face in attracting and retaining viewers.
The document compares two women named Wendy and Jersey Shore, noting some similarities between them such as both being Jersey girls, half Italian, having long brown hair, liking to be tan, wearing a lot of makeup, and having an attitude when needed. It thanks Wendy.
This document provides audition requirements for appearing as a celebrity look-alike on The Wendy Williams Show. Applicants are asked to upload a video to a website telling how they have been mistaken for a famous person and showing their resemblance. The suggested treatment involves greeting Wendy, introducing the celebrity doppelgänger as Sammi Sweetheart from Jersey Shore, showing clips of Sammi, comparing oneself to her, and thanking Wendy before ending the video. A storyboard is also referenced.

2. ELIZABETH- Residents came out in large numbers for the April 30th
grand opening of a new
WaWa store and gas station on Spring Street.
Among the attendees were local police and firemen, as well as Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollage.
The WaWa grand opening was celebrated with speeches, contests, giveaways, and best of all,
FREE coffee.
WaWa is a Pennsylvania-based company but it is continuing to expand into southern and
central New Jersey. CEO Chris Gheysens believes there’s a market here in Elizabeth that will
really appreciate the WaWa brand.
Besides the grand opening, Wawa officials said the company is also involved in the community
through charitable donations it is making to local and area nonprofit organizations, including
Josephine's Place, Groundwork Elizabeth and the Community FoodBank of New Jersey.

3. In National News…
If you haven’t heard by now, Washington Wizards center Jason Collins has come out, making
him the first openly gay professional athlete in a major American team sport. Collins says it is
“mind-boggling” that he is the first professional athlete to be openly gay and he hopes it will
encourage others to “raise their hand” and follow his lead.
Collins says being openly gay shouldn’t be a big deal. He can still play basketball and he can still
help the team win, which is most important.
The NBA player first revealed his homosexuality in an article published in Sports Illustrated,
which read “I’m a 34-year-old NBA center. I’m black. And I’m gay.”
After the article was published, Collins received tremendous support for his announcement
from the White House, the NBA, and current and former teammates.
Collins says he is happy to start the conversation about being an openly gay athlete.

A California woman who police say planted two bottles of tainted orange juice at a San Jose
Starbucks has been charged with attempted murder.
RaminehBehbehanian, 50, is accused of adding rubbing alcohol to the contents of the bottles
and then putting them into a refrigerated display case. According to officials on the scene, the
orange juice contained a lethal dose of alcohol.
Behbehanian was arrested Monday after a Starbucks customer allegedly saw her take two
bottles of orange juice out of her bag and put them in the display case. The customer reported
it to employees and also took down a license plate number, which is what led investigators to
Behbehanian’s residence.
Employees immediately pulled the bottles from the display case and the store was evacuated
until firefighters could determine the contents of the bottles.
This case is still under investigation.

5. The emergency contraception pill Plan B One-Step will now be available without a prescription
for women 15 and older, after being approved by the Food and Drug Administration Tuesday.
This move comes just weeks after a federal judge in Brooklyn, New York, ordered the FDA to
make the morning-after birth control pill available to women of any age, without a prescription.
According to the new FDA decision, Plan B One-Step will now be labeled to reflect that proof of
age is required to purchase it, and it cannot be sold where age cannot be verified. The
packaging will include a product code that prompts the cashier to ask and verify the age of the
customer.
Emergency contraceptives are intended for use within 72 hours after sex but are most effective
if taken within 24 hours.
The morning-after pill goes for about $50.

A woman desperate to have a fourth child forced her adopted teenage daughter to artificially
inseminate herself with semen purchased over the Internet so she could have the baby.
The woman came up with the plan after failed efforts to adopt another child.
The astonishing revelations appear in documents released this week by a British court. The
woman was sentenced to five years in prison for child cruelty, British media reported.
The mother came up with the self-insemination plan when her oldest daughter was 13. It took
six attempts over the course of three years for the teen to conceive. After a miscarriage at age
14, she ultimately became pregnant at age 16. The teen said she complied because she loves
her mother. She says her “mum” is a very determined person and will not let anything get in
the way of something she wants.

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ wide receiver Justin Blackmon will be suspended for the first four
games of the 2013 NFL season for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy.
At this time it is unknown what substance Blackmon tested positive for. Under the NFL’s collective
bargaining agreement, the league is not allowed to disclose the specificity of a player’s case or which
drug was taken.
On top of Blackmon missing four games of the regular season, he will lose money as well—lots of
money. According to Joel Corry of The National Football Post, Blackmon should lose over $10 million in
guarantees from his contract. That should teach him a lesson.

Former Real Housewife of New York Bethenny Frankel and her soon-to-be ex-husband, Jason
Hoppy, may be headed to trial to decide their ongoing divorce case.
Apparently trying to keep the case anonymous, the two just recently re-filed under the names
“Anonymous and Anonymous,” a move that is very rare in the court system.
At Frankel and Hoppy's most recent hearing, on April 19, they were given three weeks to work
out a custody agreement regarding their daughter Bryn on their own.
Public records show that their next court date is now scheduled for June 20 and an Oct. 31 date
is on the books to inform the court whether their case is ready for trial.
Frankel sounded disappointed when she told People magazine this week that she “really did
think it would be amicable. I absolutely did. I wrote that entire statement myself. And every
single word, I believed to be true."
