Wise owls use their watching eyes, whispering voices, and walking feet. They have wide open ears and wonder how others will feel. This document provides an alternative to classroom rules called expectations, asking questions to refer back to expectations covered each morning. When children are asked questions, they self-evaluate and make choices based on what they know is right or wrong. Expectations would also be incorporated into a song to reinforce learning.

Expectations for PRE~K Kids
This is a concept I came up as an alternative to classroom rules. Often when the word RULES
comes up kids have a hard time with the concepts or ideas that go along with them. So, I
prefer to use examples and ask questions over simply barking orders. This method would allow
me to ask a simple question that refers back to our expectations that we would cover in class
each morning. When children are asked questions they are forced to self evaluate and make
their own choices based on what they know to be right/wrong. I would also incorporate these
expectations into a song that could be sung to reinforce their learning.
