The Thames Valley District School Board will upgrade 30,000 computers from Windows XP to Windows 8 between April and September 2014. This modernization initiative will provide staff and students with the latest Microsoft operating system used in post-secondary education, business, and industry. Computers are expected to run faster and more efficiently with more powerful applications and improved security. Users will see similar desktop, app, and start screens to Windows XP but with additional features like support for mobile devices and touchscreens. Departments must submit a list of required applications and test Windows 8 compatibility by March 31.
