This document discusses why lions behave tamely in the circus. It argues that lions develop an inferiority complex from watching the ringmaster establish dominance and trust with the audience before the lion enters the stage. As a result, the lion subconsciously feels it does not measure up to the ringmaster. The key factor is that the ringmaster always enters early and makes the lion wait behind bars, watching the audience interact with the ringmaster first.
