Multiple Library versions & Isolation
How hard was to run multiple version of
language/framework.
Having virtualenv (Python) kind of solution
does not help to have different system
package/dependency all the time

Machine Config under VCS
You can easily do upgrade/rollback tests
without requiring re-installing whole OS in
case of failure.
Having MachineAsCode will help you to
switch InfrastructureAsCode approach

AWS ECR
Like having your code and changes about
your application under VCS, you can have
your docker images on ECR.
You can have lifecycle policy for cleaning up
your old images and can have latest
changes with zero implementation cost

AWS Spot Instance
If you are using kops, migration your
infra to spot instance will be very easy.
If you have (ideally you should)
multiple instance group you can apply
changes on your small instance group
to not effect running workload.
Just need to add MaxPrice
option/variable to your instance group
settings and do rolling update.
