While studying at MMU, the author chose courses focused on social issues rather than business. In their first year, they studied Law and Society to understand current social issues in the UK like gender equality and dignity in dying. They also studied Public Law to learn how the government works and how it wields power. In their second year, they studied Criminal Law and the Law of the European Union. Studying Criminal Law showed how the law protects people pushed to extreme acts of violence, while the EU class demonstrated how the EU benefits small businesses. In their third year, the author focused on Family Law as they wanted, learning how the law prioritizes children's voices in matters concerning families and children. The wide range of subjects studied
