Mum and Dad...Who's teaching us? WWCW versionMark Tennant
This is a presentation I gave at the ITF Worldwide Coaches Workshop in Egypt, 2011. In my opinion the importance of working in partnership with tennis parents is not taken seriously in many parts of the world. This presentation provoked quite a response!
John Deming writes a letter of recommendation for his student James Rivera. He describes Jay as an engaged student who is always paying attention in class, fearlessly asks questions, and has a voracious appetite for new knowledge. Unlike many distracted students, Jay is always focused and involved in class discussions. His enthusiasm is contagious and helps other students engage as well. Jay's writing and critical thinking skills have improved greatly over the semester. He listens well, learns from others, and approaches problems with empathy and a sense of community. Deming believes Jay will be a tremendous asset wherever he goes.

Parents would likely describe her as warm, engaging, trustworthy, and dedicated to the needs of the school community.

The document suggests that parents question limiting beliefs, create new positive self-talk, use affirmative statements, communicate value and pride in their children's learning, and storyboard the future they want to rewrite.

Admissions & marketing for lutheran schools nac 2015Drew Gerdes
This document provides strategies for finding new students, enrolling students, and keeping students enrolled in Lutheran early childhood programs. It emphasizes the importance of having an updated website that provides information for both current and prospective families. When prospective families visit the school, it is important to make a good impression by being prepared, showing them around, and learning about what they are looking for in a school. After students enroll, schools should work to integrate them into the school community. Marketing should target the local community through low-cost methods like social media, articles, and clothing with the school name.

This document summarizes 5 common scams and provides tips to avoid them. The scams include fake emails from the postal service about undelivered packages that contain viruses, scammers claiming problems with credit cards to get personal information from travelers, surveys that promise free gifts but are really after private details for identity theft, phone calls appearing to be from your own number offering to lower credit card rates which are actually phishing for financial data, and bogus online tech support pop-ups that aim to access your computer remotely and charge expensive fees for unnecessary fixes. The document encourages people to contact their local Better Business Bureau or type in their zip code on the BBB website for more information on avoiding scams.
The document introduces a new product called "Gum Stop" created by Rashmi Ramakrishnan and Natraj Viswanath. It is a bin designed for disposing chewed gum that aims to provide a fun alternative to improperly discarding gum on the ground or nearby surfaces. The bin encourages better civic habits by integrating gameplay into the disposal process.
The document discusses traditional accounting and financial economic models. It notes that the accounting model reports historic events but does not measure risk, while the economic model is based on economic theory and considers risk integral. It also discusses hybrid models that combine aspects of both in an attempt to address weaknesses, but warns that mixing different models can cause problems.
Huhtamäki's 2002 Q4 earnings report shows that while revenue and EBITA decreased year-over-year, EPS increased 17% due to a 14% reduction in outstanding shares from a share buyback. However, the document cautions that the operational performance and EPS increase may not be directly comparable, as share count changes can influence EPS without affecting underlying business performance.
The document discusses two common methods for calculating margins and provides an example to illustrate the difference. Engineers often calculate margin as the profit divided by the expenses, which results in a 10% margin. Finance professionals typically calculate margin as the profit divided by the total revenue, which in the example results in a 9.09% margin. The key point is that the calculation method can result in a 9% difference in the reported margin percentage, so it's important to understand which approach was used.

This document discusses an example from 1993 of Daimler-Benz AG listing plans on the NYSE and converting their financial reporting from German accounting rules (HGB) to US GAAP. It shows that under HGB, Daimler-Benz reported a profit of $615 million but under US GAAP reported a loss of $1.839 billion after accounting for deferred taxes, long-term projects, pension liabilities, goodwill, currency derivatives, and other factors. The document emphasizes that both results are correct and the example still applies today in IFRS and US GAAP environments.
The document outlines a simple cash flow model for calculating free cash flow based on sales and five value drivers: sales, sales growth, incremental fixed capital investments, incremental working capital investments, and operating profit margin. An example is provided to demonstrate how to calculate free cash flow for a company called XYZ using its sales of 10,000 euros and assumptions for the other value drivers. The free cash flow is calculated as 600 euros based on the given inputs and formula.

3. Hometown
Wadsworth, Ohio.
At one point, I lived in Riceville,
Tennessee, for a short time but moved
back (and the accent is completely
gone!)
4. My first job was
A receptionist at Jack Sommer Chevrolet
in Wadsworth, Ohio.
I was 17 when I started, and on my
second day, a woman paying for her car
service tried to scam me into believing
that she paid with a $100 bill. Thankfully,
my boss had seen that before!
5. The word that best
describes me
Learner; though, it doesn’t stop there. It’s
exciting to share new things or new
revelations.
6. Non-profit
organizations I am
involved in are
The Akron BBB (Better Business Bureau)
because I work here, MicroMentor, and
my local church with choir and various
special music projects.
7. My all-time favorite
book is
Ecclesiastes. It’s all about perspective—a
great lesson and encouragement to me
when my father passed away.
8. A great leader is
An active listener and one who seeks to
understand between the lines.
9. My biggest
accomplishment is
Graduating with a bachelor’s degree at
53.
I thought it was too late for me; but my
dad, astonished at my comment said,
“Your grandmother went back to school
to get her teaching degree when she was
60. She taught until she was over 70!”
I signed up the next day.
10. If I had a super
power, it would be
Always having the right words for those
who need encouragement or inspiration.
11. The greatest
inventions of the last
10 years are
YouTube and TED Talks. It’s exciting what
has been shared visually ever since their
inception—life moments, learning
modules, and amazing speeches.
My favorite TED Talk was on thinking inside
the box.
12. If I weren’t doing this,
I would be
Teaching senior adults any and everything
about how to use software and the
internet.
13. I’m most proud of
My son, Tyler, who is serving in the U.S. Air
Force.
He’s not been on any battlefields or front
lines, but his dedication and how far he’s
grown through giving these years of his life
for our country outright inspires me.
14. My favorite place in
the world is
Sitting across the table from any one of
my children hearing them recount their
day or what they think on a particular
topic.
15. The best piece of
advice I’ve received
is
Listening is over-talked and under-used.
Learn how to actively listen, and you
won’t ever have to worry about success.
18. I’m inspired by
Music—right now it’s the Black Keys.
Before that, it was Kid President singing,
“The World Can Be Better.”
19. My attitude towards
change is
That a day doesn’t go by without it. Jump
on the train and go for the ride … I always
learn through changes!
20. The business
leader I admire
most was
My dad. He exemplified growth and
creative thinking through learning and
humor.
21. My next goal is
Working on a new program on first
impressions.
22. If Michael Jordan had quit—He would’ve
never made Space Jam. What will be
your Space Jam? What will you create
that will make the world awesome?
The World Can Be Better … Kid President
