Watching at Home
During Festive Season

(Nov. ‘19 - Jan. ‘20)
thenet.ng
Over 50% of respondents spend their free time during the festive season
watching TV. 28% spend the time visiting family and friends.
An overwhelming majority of respondents have an active pay TV service at
home during the festive season.
Over 80% of respondents have Cable TV at home. Over 21% have streaming
services, while about 5% watch terrestrial TV stations.
Almost 50% of respondents say DStv is their preferred pay TV service
provider, while 33% say GOtv is their preferred service. 9% chose Startimes,
while 2% chose Netflix and 2% MyTV.
Multichoice Nigeria, was the preferred Pay TV service provider by 83% of
respondents.
Almost 60% of respondents say Youtube is their preferred source of
streaming content consumption, while 25% use Netflix and 4% stream on
Showmax.
47% of respondents watch foreign movies on their pay TV service, 16%
watch football and sports, 12% watch Nigerian movies, while 11% watch
music shows. 7% watch news and documentaries, while 3% watch reality
TV shows.
