The student hypothesized that zinc would dissolve most in vinegar because zinc is the softest metal and vinegar is the most acidic liquid. They tested zinc, silver, brass and a quarter in vinegar, baking soda, Coke and saltwater over 5 and 10 days. The results showed that zinc dissolved and decreased in size the most in vinegar, while baking soda and Coke had little effect on the metals, demonstrating that vinegar is the most corrosive due to its acidity.
